(318)

Our U-Cut Christmas tree farm is developed around the theme of a traditional old fashioned Christmas. Three generations of Thorntons help run the farm year round. Our farm sits on 40 beautiful acres of land with views of Mt. Hood situated minutes away from Portland. It features a wide variety of activities to do with all ages as well as a variety of trees (Noble Fir, Douglas Fir, Fraser Fir, and G

rand Fir). We pride ourselves on providing you with not only quality trees, but an experience of the true Christmas. When you come to Thorntons' Treeland you will find an old barn with a gift shop and free hot coffee and cocoa as well as a life size Nativity and fresh handmade wreaths. We also feature a petting zoo and free hayrides to enjoy with the family. Saws are provided for your convenience.

This year may look a little different.
When Glen and Nancy started their tree farm in the 1970s, no one could have known what it would turn into not only for their family but for each of yours.
They raised their kids here and then, years later their children raised their kids here.
If you have been coming to our farm for any length of time there’s a good chance one of us has greeted you, made you hot cocoa, or helped you cut your tree down and tie it to your car.
As Glen and Nancy have aged, they passed their love of their farm on to each of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
This spring our sweet, kind, and always hospitable grandmother, Nancy, passed away.
As our family is learning to navigate the inevitable changes that come with time, we have made some adjustments to the way tree season will look this year.
We will still have the sweet animals, famous cocoa, and good old hay wagon.
We will still handout candy canes, ask you to only cut down trees with a white tag and remind you farm is a one way loop.
Our barn, however, won’t have the same gifts and homemade trinkets and will look vastly different than it has in years past.
We are so excited to see you all and are grateful for your understanding as we adapt to the changes that come with time.

It's been a good season and we are so grateful for both familiar faces and new visitors to the treefarm. While the barn and the cocoa room is now closed, we will still be selling trees through the weekend. Then, the animals will go back home and the farm will be quiet once again. We thank each one of you for choosing to include us in your Holiday traditions and wish you all a blessed 2025.

Heading into our second weekend and we have plenty of trees ready to cut. We also have precut trees for you to choose from in various heights. Dress warm and be ready for rain this weekend. We've had beautiful weather so far, but the rain is a-coming, I think.

Just 2 more days until Thorntons' Treeland is open for business... although several of you have come in the last week or so to get your tree. With Thanksgiving so late in the month, we totally understand!

But, now the animals are in place. The cocoa will be ready. The Hayride set to make the rounds. The trees are tagged and priced and ready to be a part of your Christmas season. Come on out and visit us for a wonderful family outing. We have saws and carts for tree hauling you can use while here. We also have some of the best tree stands around.

We are open beginning Friday Nov 29 and on the weekends from 9-5. Weekdays, our hours are currently 10-5. If you have tried to call the farm with questions, our phone system is currently down. We hope to have that remedied soon.

From hayrides to animals; the sweetest baby guests and the yummiest of treats.
What a way to start the season!
It was wet, muddy and just a little bit cold, but absolutely perfect in its own way.
We look forward to the Friday after Thanksgiving ever year knowing we will see your smiling faces as soon as we open our gates.
You are just as big a part of our family traditions as we are yours.
Did you come today?
Are you coming tomorrow?
Don’t forget to tag us in your photos and posts.

Growing up, each of Glen and Nancy’s 13 grandchildren would dream of what the farm could be when they were older. Some would hope to take it over, some would plan where on the farm their wedding would be.
This weekend we started our tree season preparation with a bang by hosting the wedding of the second to youngest Thornton grandchild and his sweet wife.
As we recover from the busyness of the sweetest wedding, we begin the process of getting ready for tree season.
We can’t wait to see you all next month!

Every year between October and early November, we have photographers reach out to us and request to use our farm to host photo sessions.
We always respond with a “Yes!” Along with some basic instructions and requests for people who come to our farm in the off season and eagerly wait to see the finished product.
Each year we look forward to seeing each families memories captured on our family farm.
As the photography season comes to a close, we eagerly anticipate opening our gates this coming Friday.
As a reminder for photographers, this Wednesday, November 24th is the last day we will allow photoshoots to take place on the farm for the season.
We work each year and wait to open our hearts and our farm to the public to share a piece of our families history with each of you. We appreciate how loved our farm is by all and how many people enjoy taking their family photos on our land, but we ask that photographers please respect our request due to the short yet busy season we are heading into.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!
