Here’s the deal: We don’t want to make these anymore. But every now and then we will by request until we run out of parts. There’s only enough for five of these left including this one. They’re not cheap - but good things don’t come cheap.

If anyone wants to claim this shear, I can have it boxed up and shipped out by tomorrow with the rest of the ones people have been patiently waiting for MONTHS for. All it’ll need is a label and $1500 plus shipping (USA only) to claim it. You won’t find anything like it anywhere else that cuts this nicely or lasts this long.

Made from stacked 3/8 steel, blades are literally bulletproof AR500 steel, like what they use in body armor. It’ll last a lifetime because it was originally designed and sold by Potter USA.

Quick FYI: if you’re in need of my help, please message me on https://m.facebook.com/Oregontrailsilver (here.) My email has become so overwhelmed with spam that I barely check it and i kinda don’t get Instagram for business. Sometimes when I do check it, emails still don’t go through. But if you send me a message here the only reason for me to not respond right away is if I’m driving or away from my phone. This is one of two apps that I have notifications turned on to, and I try to get back as quickly as possible.

That being said, I am ordering some steel to remake a couple of orders that weren’t delivered. I would prefer to close out the business we’ve worked so hard at and loved for so long with integrity and make sure you all get what you paid for: so if the shipper fails you, I won’t. It may take a little more time to get your tools to you but I’ll do it don’t worry 💕 I just want to make sure that when I place that order for steel, I have enough to cover everyone and not so much that I get stuck with boxes of it getting shifted around my garage for eternity lol

So far though, it seems as though 99% of orders shipped are being delivered smoothly. So on that note, just be more thing:

Our website will be closing down on July 25, and we will be permanently closing down shear production. Only 12” are available and they will be ready to ship the first week of August to US ONLY!

We’ve also added back a few last chance tools (new and used) if anyone is interested.

I got the kindest compliment about my garden today from a fellow veteran (served overseas the same time I did, in fact!) who stopped by to check on some work he did for us on our corrals a couple years ago. Made me super proud and wanted to share its progress with you all! For the moment I only get to spend time out here while I have my morning cup of coffee, or when I water in the evenings. But come next week I’ll be out here a lot more, once I get all my orders done! 💕

I know some people are getting anxious, so I thought I’d share an update!

This is what I have left to make not including what is on the bench getting etched up starting today. The stack above my fingers is the next set I have to do and what’s on the bench is roughly the same amount of orders. You can see my progress on the website at www.oregontrailsilver.com. I’m a little short staffed for the rest of the week as my husband is out of town helping my dad for a few days and my daughter is house sitting a couple towns over, but I’m still plugging away! The top stack will go on the bench by Friday or Saturday depending on how quickly I can etch the current set ;)

I am still working towards my goal of getting all of my orders up to March 31st completed by the end of the month and so far it’s still a realistic expectation. I allowed a short grace period for a few people who’d asked to be able to place orders later than our closing date, and since that’s a small set I expect those to be done the first week of July.

Shears will be going to powder next week and we expect to have a much earlier shipping date for those than expected. I think once these 12” are gone we will just pack everything in and close it all down. So if you want a 12” guillotine shear, may as well get it now while I still have some available.

You’re welcome to check in on your order, but if you ordered before we closed just know it’s in the stack and coming home in the next couple weeks! On a personal note, I’m super stressed and would love a moment to relax, but I won’t stop until these are finished and I know they all made it to their new homes 🥰

It’s time! We have ten 12” guillotine shears (formlery from Potter USA) available on the website! We HAVE to sell all ten to be able to continue to build these shears. Otherwise, we will have to retire them as well. We will also have to reassess pricing, as our costs have gone up, so we will probably have to raise them in the next batch.

Processing time is solely dependent on our cutters and powder coaters, but we figure about 6-9 weeks for shipping. (I’m hoping sooner!)

We are still working on orders for texture plates but are finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! By the end of June all orders up to March 31st will be heading home and I cannot WAIT! 🔔 Tool alert!🔔

Friday jimbrandvik and lauriebrandvik from Brandvik tools had a meet and greet in Missoula, Montana! I had to work that day and just couldn’t make it, but I was so grateful to be able to swing their direction and enjoy a lovely meal with them that evening! They even brought me some goodies! 😍

I looooove all of their tools!! Everything that I’ve ever received from them is just as flawless as it gets: the patterns are wonderful and everything works as beautifully as they look! They have some of the best customer service and the love they have for the craft is reflected directly in the work they put out for us.

A little insight on what I mean when the website reads, “steel prep.”

When our steel arrives, it comes in with very sharp edges and covered in cutting oil. I have to wipe all this off, so my husband (Jason) can grind the sharp ends off. Next, we have to wash each piece of steel in a degreaser and let it air dry in the drying room on racks so I can work my super secret magic on them (sorry guys, my design application process will be remaining proprietary for the time being!)

We do this with about 200 pieces of steel at a time - around the amount of plates I can make in a week. By the end of this week, I will have 800 texture plates left to make. I’m trying to squeeze every moment of time I can in for making these so I can be finished by the end of June. So I’m so sorry I’ve been so quiet on here lately! Rest assured that we are still hard at work and very much so looking forward to seeing what you guys do with these! 🥰
