🚨 NEW FISH ALERT! 🚨

It’s been a LONG time since we’ve had Dawn Tetras available at Wet Pets CT — if we’ve ever had them at all! 👀🐟

This beautiful school just came in with our weekly order, and they’re already looking amazing.

Dawn Tetras are peaceful, active schooling fish that look their best in groups, making them a great choice for a planted community aquarium. Their subtle colors really pop as they cruise together through the tank. 🌿✨

And these are just the beginning… 👀

🔎 SPONGE FILTER INSPECTION: COMPLETE.

Our spiny eel just had to pop his head out and see what was going on. 😂

Meanwhile, the Gold Nugget Pleco has claimed the filter… and our wood catfish is playing an expert-level game of hide-and-seek in the background. 👀

Spiny eels are nocturnal explorers that love squeezing into tight spaces, investigating their surroundings, and spending time along the bottom of the aquarium. Their unusual appearance and interesting behavior make them a seriously cool choice for experienced freshwater keepers.

🐍 Fish that look like snakes? Yes please!

A little Blue Acara appreciation! 💙🐟

Did you know the classic Blue Acara is the wild-type fish that the Electric Blue Acara was derived from?

They are American cichlids that are known for:
🔹 Beautiful blue-green iridescence
🔹 Curious, interactive behavior
🔹 Pair bonding & parental care
🔹 Being generally less aggressive than many larger cichlids

We have a beautiful pair of wild-type Blue Acara available, plus juvenile Electric Blue Acara!

PEARL KNOWS WHEN IT’S KRILL TIME 🦐

Our beautiful long term resident Black Diamond Stingray, Pearl, knows exactly what she wants—and usually it’s a fistful of her favorite krill! 😋

Black Diamond Stingrays are freshwater stingrays known for their striking dark coloration and incredible patterns. With regular interaction and positive feeding experiences, stingrays can become surprisingly personable and learn to recognize the people caring for them.

Pearl definitely has that personality! 🖤

❤️🏠 Look who found his forever home! Our adorable red anglerfish is settling in beautifully in one of our staff’s personal aquariums. 🐟🥹

He was with us at the store for a few months, and we’re definitely going to miss this ridiculously cute little guy! ❤️

BABY BETTAS! 🐟

He isn’t downing a mouthful of food… this male Betta antuta “LB” is carrying a mouthful of babies! 👀

Betta antuta is a wild mouthbrooding betta from the Unimaculata complex. Unlike the familiar Betta splendens, these guys don’t build bubble nests — the male picks up the eggs and holds them in his mouth until the fry are ready to be released. His noticeably swollen jaw is one of the telltale signs that he’s carrying! 🤯

Credit to Greg Btown Blackwater for his work with this lineage and for helping introduce this awesome species among many others to the New England hobby.

Our clean up crew is getting a little bit too hands-on this Sunday 🐰

Our sea hare decided to hitch a ride on one of our employee’s arms while they worked on the coral frag table! 🪸

Sea hares are incredible algae-eating machines and can help keep reef aquariums cleaner by grazing on nuisance algae throughout the system. 🌿

Fun fact: That “rabbit” look comes from their two long sensory structures, which resemble bunny ears — hence the name sea hare!

They may look slow and goofy, but when it comes to finding algae, these guys can be surprisingly effective. 💪

🐟 EVERYONE WANTS A BITE! 😂

Male Endlers, Yoyo Loach & Bushynose Pleco all teaming up for one algae wafer! 🍃

• 🧡 Endlers — tiny, colorful livebearers that are constantly on the move and love picking at small foods throughout the day.
• 🌀 Yoyo Loaches — active bottom-dwellers named for their distinctive “YOYO” pattern. They’re also known for hunting down snails!
• 🐽 Bushynose Plecos — fantastic algae grazers, and mature males develop the crazy-looking bristles on their faces!

And while these guys are fighting over dinner… WE’RE UNPACKING! 📦🐠
