🎸 Need something done to your guitar? Bring it to Ring & Riff.

We’re not a full-blown luthier shop, and we’re not going to pretend to be one.

But we can handle a whole lot more guitar work than people may realize — and one big reason for that is Nick.

We’ve got Nick, a great local guitar technician with a lot of experience, helping us handle guitar work here at Ring & Riff. When I’m tied up with phones, tech, or whatever other weird thing wandered into the shop that day, Nick is the guy I trust with the guitar side of things.

And on these two?

Nick knocked them out of the park.

Both came in needing some attention and left cleaned up, adjusted, fully set up, intonated, and ready to play.

Between the two of us, we can handle quite a bit:

A good friend brought this Lenovo ThinkPad in and asked us to take a look at it because he wasn’t sure what was wrong — it just wasn’t working like it should.

Computer work isn’t normally our main wheelhouse, but when a friend asks for help, we don’t say no.

We started with a full diagnostic, ruled out the major hardware components, and tracked the problem down to a failed NVMe SSD that was no longer being recognized.

From there we:

Removed the failed drive

Installed a brand-new 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD

Performed a fresh installation of Windows 11 Pro

Loaded the proper Lenovo and AMD drivers

Ran all Windows updates

Updated the BIOS and firmware through Lenovo Vantage

Verified Windows activation

Checked Device Manager for any missing drivers or hardware issues

Gave the inside a thorough cleaning while we had it apart and removed dust and debris

Tested everything to make sure it was working like it should

Now it’s back up, updated, activated, cleaned up, and ready to go.

This iPhone 14 Pro was basically one bad day away from becoming a paperweight.

Shattered screen. Dead battery. Housing absolutely wrecked.

Another repair shop told the customer it was trash, not worth fixing, and tried to sell him another phone instead.

Problem was, this one still had important texts, photos, and data he needed.

So we did what we do.

New gold housing. New battery. New screen. Back from the dead.

Apparently, somebody else’s “unfixable” is just another Tuesday at Ring & Riff.

“What the hell is wrong with this thing?” Yeah, we fix that sh⚡t.

If it beeps, buzzes, lights up, makes weird noises — or doesn’t do any of that anymore — bring it to us.

Monday is already MOVING at the shop!

Before we’ve even made it to lunch, we’ve already knocked out cracked screen replacements on an iPhone 17 and an iPhone 17 Pro Max, plus this yellow iPhone 15 Plus came across the bench needing a brand-new back!

And we’re just getting started.

Up next is a Taylor GS Mini getting a fresh restring and Showstopper Package!

Phones, guitars, electronics — you truly never know what’s going to walk through the door around here, and that’s part of what makes it fun.

Closed today on Sunday doesn’t mean the work stops!

Surgery was a success!

We successfully replaced the failed fan on this ASUS GeForce RTX 3060, cleaned out all the dust and debris, removed the old thermal paste, and applied fresh thermal paste for optimal cooling and performance.

Now she’s back together and ready to rock!

Remember — if it beeps, buzzes, lights up, makes weird noises, or suddenly stops doing any of those things, there’s a good chance we can fix it and bring it back to life.

You never know what’s going to come across the bench next!

When I say I’m your tech handyman, I mean it — because I genuinely never know what’s going to walk through the door.

Today’s project: an ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card.

The customer dropped this one off because the cooling fan is no longer working. We’ve got it torn down on the bench and will be replacing the failed fan. Since we already have it apart, we’ll also clean it up, apply fresh thermal paste, and get everything put back together and ready to rock and roll.

Phones, laptops, game systems, graphics cards… around here, you just never know what the next repair is going to be.

Hey guys! I just wanted to give everyone a little update and, more importantly, say thank you.

Our current hours are:

Monday–Thursday: 9:30 AM–5:30 PM
Friday: 9:30 AM–3:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday: Closed — by appointments only

Vernon, y’all have kept us incredibly busy, and we are truly grateful for it. Every phone, tablet, computer, game console, and other piece of tech you bring through our doors is something you are trusting us to take care of, and we do not take that lightly.

The last couple of weeks have been especially busy. I’ve been staying at the store until 9:30 or 10:00 some nights just trying to stay caught up with all of the work you all have entrusted us with.

Because of that, I’m having to make a small adjustment for now. Repairs dropped off after 2:30PM Monday through Thursday will generally be worked on beginning the next business day, in the order they were received. On Fridays, the same-day cutoff will be noon.

This is not something I wanted to have to do, but until I can get another set of helping hands in the store, there are only so many repairs I can realistically get through in a day while still giving each one the time and attention it deserves.

Please bear with us while we work on hiring and training someone to help us keep up. Once we have that extra help in place, our goal is to extend our hours back into Saturdays.

From the bottom of my heart, thank y’all for supporting this little business and trusting us with your tech. Being this busy is a blessing, and I’d much rather have the problem of trying to keep up than wondering if anyone was going to walk through the door.
