GIFTS GALORE at the Vero Beach Art Club, GALLERY AND MARKETPLACE, 1903 14th Ave., Vero Beach, Tues.-SAT., 11am-3pm. Today’s feature for our “Spotlight on Art” is Mary Segal. Ms. Segal has lived in Sebastian since 1985. She graduated summa cm laude from Brown [University in 1955 with a BA in Art and a studio concentration from the Rhode Island School of Design. She then moved to Munich, Germany, where she studied painting and printmaking for a year. Back in the states, she first lived in Berkeley, then Laguna Beach. Mary continued her printmaking studies at the Laguna College of Art. In the early ‘70s Segal moved to northern New Mexico, settling near Taos and continuing to create art.
Mary moved to Sebastian just as the Vero Beach Museum Of Art was opening its doors. She helped establish a print making studio there and taught numerous classes. Mary is inspired by the colors of the tropical landscape, the abundance of water, rivers and ocean. A passionate gardener, Mary often incorporates flowers, leaves and botanical forms in her paintings and prints.
