Did you know that in the 1800s the typical American woman bore an average of 7 children? Handmade wooden cradles were often used, treasured, and handed down from infant to infant, then generation to generation, as true family heirlooms. While safety is a concern when using antique cradles for babies today there are many creative ways to repurpose them.....storage for blankets or toys, a pet bed, or as a unique piece of home decor, to name a few.
This beautiful 1800s cradle is a great collectors piece. You will find it at Thymes Past, 12th and Main St. at the Factory Antique Mall, Verona, Va.
