If you’re out hunting for the “real deal” when it comes to home decor and glassware, two handy thing to have with you are a small magnet and a coin. You can check items you believe might be copper, silver, or brass by doing a magnet test. If the magnet sticks- then that ain’t it! Real pieces will not stick to magnets.
In addition using a coin (or fingernail) to gently tap on glassware can tell you a lot. A long, clear ringing tone indicates crystal, while a dull sound tells you it’s just pretty glass. But what makes you happy, but it’s good to be aware of what you’re paying for!

Looking for some scary good deals on Halloween decor? Check out marketplace! While it’s fun to hunt at the thrift stores (an all year round endeavor for me) if I’m being specific I’ll check out marketplace for some killer deals. I just searched “Halloween” and so much came up- big, small, indoor, outdoor, animatronics, party supplies- you name it it’s there at some amazing prices as folks are pricing them to move with the season! All of these were local to me and my travels (this is a great tip for other holidays, too!) ❤️Happy Thrifting!❤️

Thrift stores are always full of button jars, costume jewelry, old puzzles, canvases etc- so you can combine your love of thrifting with your love to crafting! ⭐️Thrift Tip Tuesday⭐️ Vintage kitchenware can be a lovely addition to your home. It’s even better if it’s practical and usable! That being said there are some things to look out for if you are thrifting kitchen items to actually use, rather than just look pretty- look for scratches, deep burn marks, and other damage. Scratches in plastic are particularly sneaky cause they can hold so much bacteria even with deep cleaning and can break down faster leading to more microplastics in your body- best to skip plastic all together unless it is in it’s original packaging. Skip cooking pans with cuts and grooves for the same reason. ❤️Happy Thrifting!❤️
