The building was built in the early 1920s and has beautiful stone and terracotta applications. This building has housed many businesses over the years. Barbershop, Soda fountain, bank, office supplies, small market, political office, these are just a few. Come visit and take a look at our beautiful building and come in the shop to check out our amazing items and when you're out and about remember to look up and enjoy the beauty of the buildings that surround us in the Chicagoland area.

This father and son tool collectors couldn't smile any bigger when they came across this early 1900 FALK 4lb sledge hammer. These are the smiles we love... because we know it went home with the right people.
There is a beauty to antique and vintage tools. Who owned it? How many people owned it? Was it passed down for generations? What great things did it help make? How many times did it whack something into working again? The patina on the wood handle is amazing with a warm luster. The weight of it. The way it makes ya flex and feel strong and confident. Someone loved this sledge so much they routed out some lines in the handle to give it a more solid grip. This sledge was a worker! Not a tool box show piece The pure steel is curling over to give a slight lip on both sides form years and years of hard strikes.
Old tools are true folk art. A true craftsman used and loved this tool. To own it and hang it on a wall..... to just look at every little nick, scratch and imperfection. Its beautiful.You must admire all the blood, sweat, tears and hard work that was put into this tool as it made other things. Making memories.
So when you see an old rusty tool. Just think about its life. Always helping others. Even in its old age (over 100 to 120yrs old) it will come off the shelf and work with you and for you.

We carry a lil of this and that at The Old Globe. What we carry are the MEMORIES that we all grew up with. Memories that you can take home and appreciate again.
