Fret & Find turns one this week.
Sometimes an instrument is more than just an instrument.
This week, I had the opportunity to help a customer in Missouri choose a guitar for his lifelong friend and mentor here in Georgia. He trusted Fret & Find not only to help with the purchase, but also to personally deliver it for him.
Today, I got to hand that guitar over.
There was something pretty special about getting to be a small part of a gift between two lifelong friends so many miles apart. Hearing the story of their friendship was a testament to two men who have intentionally stewarded their friendship over the years—investing their time, encouragement, and opportunities into one another.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” — Proverbs 27:17
Moments like this are a good reminder that the instruments that come through Fret & Find aren't just inventory. They're going somewhere, to someone, for a reason.
And the timing of this one feels especially fitting.
When I started this a year ago, I wanted it to be about more than buying and selling instruments. I wanted to steward them well and help put music into the hands of every kind of player that would give those instruments a purpose. With the ultimate end goal of every instrument to hopefully bring joy, worship, healing, and community.
A year later, getting to deliver a guitar from one lifelong friend to another feels like a pretty good picture of that.
