Freeze dried okra heading to market soon! Thank you to Amy's Garden for providing us delicious, organic okra. We freeze dry them plain as well as okra seasoned with Makes-A-Difference

Eat them straight out of the bag, throw them into soups, or add them as a topping onto a salad or burger. So good!

Picked up a batch of “seconds” from Drumheller’s Orchard 🍑🍏 and KelRae Farm🍈 today! These imperfect fruits may not be pretty enough to make it to the market stand, but they’re still just as sweet, delicious, and full of good nutrition.

We give these fruits a second life by turning them into tasty, shelf-stable freeze-dried snacks.

This started off as an Instagram story but I got sentimental and have too many words so…

Can we talk about my girl Erene for a minute?

We’ve each been in business for over five years now, and we’ve known each other for just as long. After doing the market/event life for decades (I sold other stuff before Crunch On), vendor friends become a pretty big part of your life. But most are just coworkers—you’re close because you see each other all the time, but you don’t necessarily hang out outside of work. There is a boundary that limits the friendship.

Erene (and Brantley) are way more than that to me.

We don’t hang out all the time (we’re both way too busy for that 😂), but we actively make time to hang out, eat because we are foodies, celebrate birthdays and milestones, or just catch up.

As I was thinking about our pop-up this weekend, I realized that Erene and Project Seed Coffee have been a constant in my life with Crunch On. She continues to be one of the people I call when I want to bounce an idea around, ask questions about business practices or laws, or just complain about being an entrepreneur (happens more than you think).

We’ve grown together—from that first market at ODU where we were both out there peddling our own products and trying to get our brands known, to navigating the headaches of moving into brick-and-mortar spaces, to managing and training staff as our responsibilities have gotten bigger and heavier.

I don’t know if she knows just how much I respect her and appreciate her friendship after all these years.

It’s been such a privilege to watch her grow her business from the front seat, and I’m so proud of what she’s built.

So tomorrow, if you’re in the Kempsville/Virginia Beach area, make a pit stop at Project Seed Coffee! Grab a drink, grab a snack, and support two small businesses that have put in years of hard work, winging it, tears, sweat, joy, growth, and friendship. ❤️
