 Attention to any new followers
I’ve been getting a lot of new followers lately, which is expected after Pennsic. however I am very convinced that a large number of them are fishing scams. All of the ones that I have ignored and blocked have fit a similar pattern of either being a brand new profile or a profile that has had not a single post in three years or more. In all of the cases that I’ve blocked there have been no visible connections to any of the types of events or organizations that run the events that I usually attend. There have also been no friend lists with any name on it that I recognize as being someone who I have done business within the past. I don’t want to risk replying back to these people, but I have been reporting the sites as potentially fraudulent and letting Facebook investigate them.
The reason I’m reporting this is that if you are shopping legitimately, and our new to both my site, and by some weird stretch of the imagination have never had a page, or by an even weirder stress of the imagination, have not posted anything on such a page in 3 to 10 years, please introduce yourself to me with a private message and just let me know where you got my name and information.
Going through the extra step of contacting me is only really necessary if I have blocked you or not replied within 24 hours by marking the item that you have chosen as yours and sold. I realize that if I blocked you, you can’t really contact me, but I don’t know what else to do. So if you would like to be Shopping and your profile is going to fall into one of the categories above, please contact me before you start claiming.
I’m sorry if this inconveniences anyone and it’s not that I don’t want additional business, but the pattern I’ve been seeing in the last week has fit the descriptions of common and ongoing frauds, and I’m trying to protect both my business and my customers by being as cautious as I can.
Thank you for understanding.
