For Sale 1968 Porsche 912 coupe - original rust free California black plate car, original paint, original interior, 86,000 original miles, engine/transmission fully rebuilt 4 years ago by my shop - comprehensive full rebuild with big bore 1720cc and improved camshaft and properly jetted rebuilt original Solex carburetors.
Originally sold to a doctor out of downtown San Francisco when new. It came to me in good but slightly tired condition so I did all the engine/trans work - new everything on the engine including clutch. The interior I replaced the dash with an original not cracked dash I was very lucky to source through my contacts, rebuilt the padding on the seat and added the deluxe Slumberoll headrests, new headliner, Wood Steering Wheel! Gauges restored by Palo Alto Speedo.
Original x5 dated matched wheels restored with new Vredestein 185 tires installed.
The exterior paint is all original, it has a few spots of patina but honestly don’t we all look a little worn after all the years, I polished the paint and brought it back to a very acceptable gloss appearance. Original paint means no accidents! Replaced the USA only side markers with good original used, the turn signals are all original in excellent shape. Most all rubber replaced. Most cars these days are full of reproduction parts that might look shiny but they don’t fit well and will not last like all the original German parts on this car, these cars are also not built by someone with 30+ years of Porsche 912 experience. I can’t build cars like this anymore unfortunately unless the price was well over $150k…. This one was done just before the pandemic so the costs were much lower. The current owner is trading it in on another car so don’t snooze, this is a good one to buy that will not give you any trouble. He had driven regularly for 4 years and has had no problems.
