Located inside Spice Village, a collection of shops in Waco, Texas, The Kenzel offers a fun selection of games, puzzles, books, stationery products, greeting cards and other gifts. The Kenzel is filled with many of the things I have loved since I was a child: books, games, puzzles, journals and more, and The Kenzel name is a tribute to my childhood. When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time with my cousins and my reluctant brother playing house, school, library, or whatever else our imaginations would would dream up. Having a love for books, playing library was especially fun for me. As the oldest, I played the role of librarian. I used my mother’s electric typewriter to make a complete list of all of my book choices available for checkout just in case you were looking for something in particular. I also made each patron a library card out of a note card, and each book was due back on a certain day. By using a rotating system of my brother’s Ghostbusters action figures sitting outside my room, of course! It was not at all uncommon for your book to be due back on Granny Gross. I will admit that Mrs. Kenzel could be sneaky and unfair at times. Sometimes Granny Gross day may have only lasted for five minutes so if you were caught up in a good book, you may have lost track of what day it was and ended up owing a fine for being overdue. Not fair, I know, but The Kenzel Library needed funds! Fast forward many, many years. When my son outgrew his nursery, I turned the room into a library to display my collection, and to my surprise, my ever-thoughtful aunt gave me a nameplate for my desk- “Mrs. Kenzel, Librarian”. She remembered! As my love for books, games, and puzzles has continued to grow, it brings me joy to offer this collection to you. I hope you enjoy shopping at The Kenzel as much as I enjoy bringing all of my favorites together. I appreciate your business.
