Jerry Lewis, Dick Clark, Sammy Davis Jr., Bruce Lee as Kato, Don Ho, Edward G. Robinson, even Santa Claus and Colonel Klink from Hogan's Heroes. Here's the secret: West and Ward weren't climbing anything. They were on the floor of a soundstage, hunched over, walking across a flat-painted backdrop while the camera was tilted ninety degrees on its side. The celebrity stuck their head up through a hole in the floor disguised as a window. Frank Sinatra reportedly begged the producers to let him play the Joker. They told him no.
