We've been asked why most of the barrels we use have stains on them. The fact of the matter is that almost all barrels will leak to some extent over time. Especially if the barrel held whiskey for 5 or more years. And, the longer the whiskey ages, the more stains there will be.

Those dark streaks and rusted hoops aren’t a sign of damage — they’re a sign of life. Over time, the barrel staves expand and contract with temperature changes, allowing the spirit deep into the oak and sometimes all the way through to the outside.
When that happens, a little whiskey seeps out, evaporates, and leaves behind a mix of caramelized sugars, oak oils, and iron from the hoops. What you end up with is that weathered, “cured” look — a visual reminder that the barrel’s been doing its job.

Every mark tells a story of aging, heat, and time. These barrels have earned their character. Could we sand the barrels down to bare wood and strip the hoops to clean metal? We could, but then your cabinet or table would not tell the same story. While we do sand and seal all of our barrel furniture, we walk that fine line between providing you with a quality finished product while preserving the character that makes your barrel one of a kind.

Ideal for a young person that is interested in learning about woodworking. We will teach the fundamentals of woodworking as well as laser engraving and CNC design and operation.
