Sometimes closing one chapter is what allows another adventure to begin ❤️

Many of you knew this space as Porcupine Gallery & Gifts, and I’ll always be grateful for the support, memories, and community that grew there over the years.

Today, I’m excited to officially welcome you into the next chapter: The Gray Owl Outdoors 🦉

This new vision was built from a love of the outdoors, adventure, small-town community, and creating a space where people can gather, explore, and feel inspired to get outside.

While the name and direction have evolved, the heart behind it remains the same. Community, connection, and welcoming people in.

Big things are happening on Sunday Lake Street!

We’ve been rearranging, dreaming, and building something new behind the scenes. Porcupine Gallery Gifts is stepping into its next adventure.

We are officially transitioning into The Gray Owl!

Same location. New energy. New experiences.

The photo above was taken at the Backcountry Ski Festival a couple weeks ago. That day felt like more than an event. It felt like the beginning. Skis, local maple syrup, sweatshirts, and conversations about getting outside together. That is the heart of what we are building. ❤️

Our goal is simple. We see a gap in our community for a place where people can stop, get equipped, ask questions, and head out prepared. We are excited to help fill that space right here in Wakefield. 📍

During this transition phase, we’ll be sharing pop-up hours and special open days as we continue building things out. Make sure you’re following The Gray Owl page so you don’t miss when the doors are open.

As this space continues to evolve, I am so excited to share something that is beginning to take shape.

The Gray Owl is a new local outfitter growing here—slowly and thoughtfully—alongside what already exists. You will start to see outdoor gear and rentals added intentionally, beginning with Altai Skis, along with some shared space during this transition while this next chapter comes together.

February 15th marks the very first public step, with The Gray Owl supporting Altai Skis during Sunday’s event in the Porcupine Mountains. It feels like the perfect way to begin—getting outside, trying something new, and connecting with people and place.

I’m so grateful for the community that has filled this space over the years, and I’m genuinely excited to bring you along as this grows. There is so much more to come, and I can’t wait to share it with you, one step at a time.

The Gray Owl is taking its first steps.

On February 15, we will be out in the Porcupine Mountains supporting Altai Skis during Sunday’s event, which is part of their first-ever festival weekend in the Upper Peninsula.

Altai Skis will be bringing demos, knowledge, and the chance to try out their unique skis designed for trails, woods, frozen lakes, and winter travel beyond the usual routes.

We’re proud to share that The Gray Owl is Altai Skis’ first local retail and rental partner in the area, and we’re excited to help bring this event to life in a hands-on, community-centered way.

This marks the first public appearance of The Gray Owl as a new local outfitter focused on reliable gear, rentals, and honest guidance for exploring the UP year-round.

Touch of Gray Interiors is growing! We are seeking two reliable Property Guardians to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is observant, dependable, and takes pride in caring for homes as if they were their own.

Position Details
• One Property Guardian with flexible hours
• One additional part-time Property Guardian based primarily in the Iron River, MI area

What a Property Guardian Does
Property Guardians support our clients by performing scheduled property checks and cleaning tasks. This role focuses on care, accountability, and attention to detail. You are the eyes and ears for our clients when they are away.

Duties may include:
• Short-term rental cleaning and setup
• Routine property checks using a checklist
• Reporting maintenance concerns or irregularities
• Communicating clearly with our office after visits

This Role Is a Good Fit If You:
• Are trustworthy and comfortable working independently
• Have strong attention to detail
• Can follow systems and checklists consistently
• Are respectful of people’s homes and privacy
• Have reliable transportation and a smartphone

Cleaning experience is helpful but not required. We are happy to train the right person.

Schedule & Pay
• Part-time with flexible scheduling
• Paid hourly
• Mileage reimbursed
• Paid time off
• All cleaning supplies provided
