Working….kind of…..
Sorry for the lack of movement and communication of late. I’ve been working but not as much. I’ve had a few life distractions going on. I’ve been looking into early retirement a lot and how to make it happen. This corporate America stuff is really getting bad. The future of the workforce that I see looks bleak. Maybe it’s me getting older but my patience for things is really running thin.
I felt like getting away this weekend and decided to go up to see my Uncle on the old family farm on my Dads side. I haven’t been up there in 38 years. I have fond memories of my dad taking me up there as a child. Not many kids get to see a simpler way of life. The farm is in Monona Iowa. 20 minutes from the Mississippi River. Yes, we went fishing and got a few walleye, sheepshead and a flathead. For dinner I was treated to a deer roast with homemade noodles, mashed potatoes and sweet corn from the garden. Everything tastes better off the land. I feel sorry for people that never experience it.
I’ve always felt at ease up in Northeast Iowa. I think it’s the connection with nature. Maybe I need it? My anxiety and worry’s always go away when I start seeing the bluffs and timber. You get to a point in life where you start seeing people passing away. Celebrities you grew up watching pass and it starts to have a profound impact on you. It’s been on my mind a lot the last 2 years. You look at what you’re doing and how you’re living and how much time you may have left.
My uncle wants me to move up to the farm. He’s offered me a spot to build on. I’ve never really wanted the big house and fancy things. I’ve always leaned toward a frugal life style not shared by my family. I’ve always struggled with the spending. I have a lot to think about.
Jigs.
I continue to get back to my work. I did some more tungsten work. I’m going to hold them for a future release. Glass Fry have eyes on them now and are ready for Glass. I’ll hit that hard tomorrow. I’ll get back to the Waiting List tomorrow.
I felt like I owed an explanation for the lack of anything going on.
