Nanna's Mercantile hours are as unstable as the weather right now. 😆. Very sorry for the inconvenience. I am open now for a few hours. I brought in seedling rhubarb plants to add to the tomato and cabbage plants. Happy to hold plants back for those who would like me to. You may text me 863-0727 and I'll send a variety list. We will be open Monday and Tuesday 9 to 4. Enjoy the moisture! God is Good!!

We are more than happy to accept local checks.Thank you for your understanding!

Well I decided I'd best transplant celery and celeriac today. Yes! We can grow them both here. Celery can be grown with a gallon size vessel around it and keep mulching heavily. When you need a stalk, cut it low and most likely it will grow another stalk for you. I almost love the celeriac more even though I forgot about all I had dehydrated from last year. Oh well! It will keep for years at that state. A delicious root vegetable to chunk up and throw in soups ect. Watch for posts because as usual I have to much of everything and will be taking the extra to Nanna's Mercantile .

If you haven't started your peppers and eggplants yet, today is a good day to do that. Tonight will be below freezing here so I will wait till Sunday to put out my Cabbage and Kale plants. They can handle the cold but why risk it while so tender. I'll plant them in my tree guilds, spreading them out to add color and to slow down the cabbage bug infestations that can happen with Kohl plants. Nanna's Mercantile will be open Monday 10 to 4.

I did not make it to the store today. With all the sicknesses going around it seemed to make more sense to stay home and put on a nice pot of bone broth soup. I did make it outside though to do some watering (God is Good and the rains will come) and enjoy the fruits of my fall labors. Emerging daffodils, tulips, and garlic. Even some blooms coming open. Along with planting food for your family and friends, be sure you plant things that make you smile and bring you joy. This weekend is a great time to put out Cabbage and Kale plants. Be sure to cover them with a jug or such to protect their tenderness, water well and mulch heavily with anything you have available. Shredded paper, compost, old hay, etc. I will most likely have left over plants for trade or a very reasonable price.

Nanna's Mercantile is open today and there are so many new things. Ill try to post pics tomorrow. Many pairs of jeans on the sale table and closet at 50% off. Garden hint today: good day to transplant and watch some no dig by Charles Dowding on you tube. Many people enjoy working in fresh tilled soil but he will teach you techniques that are more beneficial to the soil then walking behind the garden tiller. Have a Godly day.

What a great day to plant at Nanna's Backyard Garden. Radish, lettuce, Sorrel, Beets, Turnips, and more early seeds. Don't forget to plant Radish (I prefer icicle) seeds where you plan to plant pumpkins and squash. Leave some to go to seed to deter squash bugs! This works for me and failure to do this means failure to get a crop. Have a great spring day and send someone in who needs jeans, shorts, or capris!! Great prices for nearly new denims! 50% off!
