💛MONDAY MUSINGS💛
Close your eyes for just a moment.
Think about the one thing in this world you simply cannot imagine living without.
For me, it was my boys.
All I ever wanted to be was a mama, and when Hill and Wright came into my life, I truly felt like God had given me the greatest gifts I could ever receive.
Now imagine hearing the words no parent ever wants to hear~
Your child has cancer or even one step further ….. we have exhausted all of our treatment options for your child.
Imagine the appointments. The scans. The waiting. The fear. Watching your child endure things you would do anything to take away from them.
And then going to bed every night begging for one thing-
Please, Lord. Let my child be healed earthside.
Denny and I lived that.
Twice.
And I never want to become too far removed from the fact that every single day, somewhere, there is a mama and daddy praying, begging and pleading for the same miracle.
When a child is first diagnosed, for most an army usually shows up.
Meals are brought. Prayers are prayed. People check in and surround that family with love.
We know, because an army showed up for us - twice !
But yall weeks turn into months, and months turn into years & everyone else’s life will slowly return to normal.
The family fighting cancer doesn’t get to return to normal- honestly ever, regardless of the outcome.
The appointments continue. The scans continue. The fear continues.
That is why organizations like Riley’s Army Triangle mean so much.
They stay.
They continue walking beside families long after the first wave of support has passed, reminding them-
We haven’t forgotten you. You still have an army.
Our community carried our family through some of the hardest days of our lives, and once you’ve been carried like that, you never forget it.
You want to become that for somebody else.
That is the heart behind our event Camo for a Cause.
It isn’t just camo.
It isn’t just an event.
It isn’t just raising money.
It is our chance to tell another family~
We see you. We remember. And we’re going to walk with you.
So this September, when you see the gold ribbons, think for just a moment about that person you couldn’t imagine living without.
Then remember that somewhere tonight, a mama and daddy are praying the same prayer I once prayed.
And they deserve an army too. 💛
Once you’ve been carried, you can’t help but want to carry others.
