Our local small town tradition is an experience you don't want to miss.
🇺🇸 PANAMA MULLIGAN 2026 — SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH! 🇺🇸
It’s almost time for the biggest event of the year in our little Village of Panama!
Every year, a group of volunteers works behind the scenes putting in the time, planning, organizing, cooking, setting things up and doing all those little jobs most people never see. They do it for one reason: to give our community a great day and keep a Panama tradition going strong.
This year there will be food, live music, kids’ activities, local history and plenty of reasons to spend the whole afternoon in Panama!
🔥 THE PANAMA MULLIGAN
Serving Mulligan & hotdogs from noon until gone!
And this isn’t Mulligan cooked in some ordinary kitchen. It’s made the old-fashioned way, in an old kettle over an open fire! If you’ve never had Panama Mulligan, this is the day to try it.
🎶 LIVE MUSIC ALL AFTERNOON
Miller/Maguire Music Duo — Noon to 3 PM
Chapman Brothers Band — 3 PM to 6 PM
🍭 PANAMA VFW
Lolli & Pops Sweets & Treats Food Truck — Noon until gone
🍗 NU-WAY DELI
Chicken Dinners — 11 AM to 1 PM
2-piece Chicken & Fried Potato Wedges — 1 PM until gone
Pulled Pork — 1 PM until gone
👧 KIDS’ ACTIVITIES
Bring the kids! There will be activities for our younger Mulligan-goers too.
📜 ENJOY SOME PANAMA HISTORY!
We have a lot of history packed into our little village, so while you’re here, take some time to explore it.
Local historians will be available from noon to 2 PM to visit, answer questions and share some of Panama’s history.
⭐ Panama Museum — Open noon to 2 PM
⭐ John L. Lewis Historical Marker at John L. Lewis Park
⭐ Mineworkers’ Monument at Panama Union Cemetery
And yes, that John L. Lewis — the legendary labor leader and longtime president of the United Mine Workers of America, whose roots are right here in our little corner of Illinois.
❤️ THIS IS WHAT SMALL-TOWN COMMUNITY LOOKS LIKE.
Events like Panama Mulligan don’t just happen. They happen because people volunteer their time, businesses and organizations pitch in, musicians come out to entertain us, people cook and serve food, and neighbors work together to make something special happen in their hometown.
So Sunday, September 6th, come spend the day with us in Panama, Illinois.
Eat some Mulligan. Grab some chicken or pulled pork. Listen to some music. Let the kids have some fun. Visit the museum. Learn a little Panama history. Run into somebody you haven’t seen in six months and stand there talking for 45 minutes. 😂
Most importantly, come out and support the volunteers and organizations who work so hard to keep this Panama tradition alive.
