Saturday I finally had Keith and Bobby out for a sea bass trip after a black cloud forced us to cancel their last 8 trips that they’ve had booked with us due to weather. We bounced around in different depths but struggled to find consistent action. A strong northernly current and cold water definitely didn’t help. We had to be in a little early so they ended with a dozen sea bass and a couple of ling along with releasing a bunch of out of season blackfish.

2026 sea bass regs are set! It’s almost time to go fishing!

The NJ 2026-2027 Black Sea Bass fishing season and regulations are set… same 12.5” minimum size. The open season dates and bag limits are… 10 fish May 15 – June 21, 1 fish June 22 – Sept 22, 10 fish Sept 23 – Oct 31, 15 fish Nov 1 – Dec 31. 🎣

The 231 day season opens two days earlier than last year. The one segment begins on 6/22 and extend through 9/22, when the 10 fish begins on 9/23. No more closed September… so we’ll be fishing the “fall gap” once again!!! September Sea Bassin’ has a nice ring to it. 🔔 🎣 🤙

I had Ryan, Owen, Dave, and Brian out this morning for a striper trip. We had high hopes with the NW wind and minimal boat traffic, but the fish disappeared. We did a lot of driving around, looking, and hoping something would come together. Later in the morning we had some flurries of fish, put in some OT to scrape together a boat limit of slot fish, and ended the trip catching 10 fish up to 37”. It was a really tough start but the guys stuck it out and it ended up paying off!

This morning I had Chuck, Chase, John, Jimmy, and Mike out this morning to play bumper boats with about 1,000 other boats. We tried our best to stay away from the giant fleets but it was just about impossible. The guys stuck with it catching about 15 bass, keeping their limit of slot fish plus a couple bonus tags. Hopefully tomorrow is a little different with much less boat traffic.

Wet and windy this morning for Sam, Mackenzie, Joe, and Alyssa. We had a few bites and even caught a couple keepers before the Atlantic flu set in and we had to cut the trip short and head in early. Heard mid morning that they started chewing good. Back at it again in the morning!

Not the lights out fishing we saw a couple days ago, but definitely enough action to keep you busy after very slow reports the past 2 days. Rob, Tim, Shawn, and John worked hard to boat 20 bass today up to 38”. Keepers were very hard to come by today and bonus tag fish were non existent for us, but they ended the trip with their limit of slot fish to take home for Thanksgiving fish cakes.

As good as it gets this morning for Joe, Charlie, Matt, and Mike! We started the morning chasing birds and top water feeds and ended by putting the boat on a 2hr long drift with non stop action of 2-4 fish on at all times. The guys ended the trip with 60 bass up to 41”, keeping our limit of slots and bonus tags.

This morning I had Frank and Joe along with their sons Matt and Joe on a striper trip. It was a very slow morning with plenty of bait around but no fish. Late morning we got a call (thank you Keith) and made a run to where there were some birds. We ended up having steady action with stripers up to 41”. All of the fish were too big to keep except for a bonus tag fish that we found mixed in. We put in some overtime to make up for the dull morning before pointing back home. Thank you guys for sticking it out and we will see you in the spring!

This morning I had Steve, Shawn, Frank, and Paul out for our first striper trip of the fall run. We had action right away with a 300lb thresher shark hooking up and putting on a show for us jumping out of the water before landing on the line and breaking off. We covered a lot of ground and had bait everywhere but couldn’t get the fish to cooperate. We ended the day with only a half dozen bites resulting in a couple stripers up to 39”. We broke the ice and fishing will only get better as the month goes on. We will be out every day that the weather allows us to through the end of the month!
