This has been a remarkable year for the honey bees because of the more normal winter and wet spring. Some blooms, such as Hieracium (hawkweed) have continued through the entire summer! The damp spring should ensure a good goldenrod crop.

Our honey production has nearly doubled this year, currently standing at more than 1600 lbs. However, the important aspect of this year is the good health of our honeybees.

We will NOT be at the Howland Farmers Market on Saturday. The smoke has aggravated Jerry’s asthma, and so we will be taking the safe route and staying inside at home. We hope to see everyone next week.

Over the last two days, we have pulled 130 lbs of honey. Our total yield for the year is now nearly 1/2 ton. To put this number in perspective, last year we did not reach this number until September 14th.
