There’s something special about bringing a family heirloom back to life. Our friend Brandon recently brought in his grandfather’s 1938 Carson J. Robison Recording King for a little TLC, including cleaning up the saddle slot, fitting a new bone saddle, dressing the frets, and installing a fresh set of strings. Built by Gibson much like the iconic L-00 and named after pioneering country music star and songwriter Carson J. Robison, these guitars were sold through the Montgomery Ward catalog, giving everyday musicians an affordable way to own a quality American-made instrument during the Great Depression. Nearly 90 years later, this one is still making music.

A huge thank you to Nathan Stanley & Constant Sorrow for an incredible evening of bluegrass. There were songs, stories, and laughter aplenty that filled the room with some good ol’ mountain music as he paid tribute to his Papaw, Dr. Ralph Stanley.
