This is a refinished Ed Roos cedar chest circa the 1940's. This chest saw better days. Someone before me tried to refinish it unsuccessfully. There were orbital sanding marks all over the lid, including the waterfall front. The chest was a dull, unimaginative medium brown. All the inner tray hardware, the tray, and the hinges were missing. I stripped the entire finish off and made repairs to the walnut/mahogany/zebra wood veneers. The trim was painted with Behr premium satin enamel in Deep Espresso. The entirety of the chest was topcoated with Varathane Ultimate oil based polyurethane in a semi-gloss finish. I added corner supports to the base with new plastic feet. New hinges were installed inside the lid and cabinet.

This is a restored vintage 1945 Lane cedar chest. The old, crystallized laquer finish was completely stripped. The bookmatched veneers consist of walnut, banana wood, and mahogany. The chest was finished with 3 coats of Varathane oil-based satin polyurethane to bring out the warmth of the burled walnut on the center of the cabinet. The base and trim were painted with Behr premium satin Deep Espresso enamel before getting the same topcoat treatment. The base has new plastic feet to replace the rusted/missing steel feet. The lock has been disabled due to a national recall, but all parts and the original key are included. This is a beautiful, functional accent piece that can dress up any decor.

Measurements: 47" wide, 22" tall, and 18 1/2" deep.

This is a restored vintage 1943 Lane cedar chest. This chest had a large amount of damage and required a lot of attention. The old, crystallized laquer finish was completely stripped off as it was failing miserably. The bookmatched veneers consist of walnut, zebra wood, and mahogany, and it features an incredible maple burl in the center of the cabinet. The tray and hinges inside the lid needed to be rebuilt. The chest was finished with 3 coats of Varathane oil-based satin polyurethane to bring out the warmth of the walnut. The base and trim was painted with Behr premium satin Deep Espresso before getting the same topcoat treatment. The base has new plastic feet to replace the rusted/missing steel feet. The original advertisement from 1943 is still stapled to the inside of the lid. This is a beautiful, functional accent piece that can dress up any decor.

Measurements: 47" wide, 23 1/2" tall, and 18 1/2" deep.

This professionally refinished vintage Lane cedar chest is part of the Sweetheart series, manufactured in 1950. Its' clean rectangular lines lend itself to popular MCM styling. The veneer is a combination of Claro walnut and Zebra wood, showing off super rich colors and interesting grain patterns. The base and feet were painted with Behr premium enamel in Baronial Brown and then topcoated with clear matte enamel. The original information brochure is tied to the interior felt-lined tray.

This piece was stained with Minwax Jacobean stain and then sealed with 5 coats of de-waxed shellac. It is perfect as an accent, sofa, console or entryway table.

Do you have a deep, undermount sink? Send me your dimensions and I can make you a custom, laser engraved cutting board that fits neatly onto the top lip of the sink!

The cutting board pictured here is made from domestic hickory. The board is reversible, flat on one side and a juice groove on the other. The flat side is ideal for laser engraving. This particular board is approximately 1 3/4” thick and just proud of the countertop.

Price can vary based on dimensions but they start at $50 without laser engraving.
