Today’s guitar of the day is this vintage Truetone Vanguard in black sparkle finish.

This sweet vintage guitar is a Kay-built Truetone Vanguard, sold through Western Auto in the 1960s — and this one is a seriously cool piece of American guitar history.

This is the two-pickup version, featuring a pair of those distinctive Kay/DeArmond single-coil “pancake” pickups, with individual volume and tone controls for each pickup and a 3-way selector switch.

You also get the classic offset double-cutaway body, bolt-on neck, rosewood fingerboard, 19 frets and Kay’s distinctive aluminum bridge/tailpiece hardware.

And just look at it in black sparkle. This thing has SO much personality.

These were affordable student guitars when they were new, but they have become seriously fun vintage instruments for players and collectors who appreciate the weird, wonderful side of American guitar history.

Today’s guitar of the day is this brand new Washburn HD10SCE acoustic-electric in Natural.

This is a great-looking dreadnought acoustic-electric featuring a solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, ovangkol fingerboard and bridge, and scalloped-X bracing. The cutaway gives you easy access to the upper frets, and the Fishman 301T electronics with built-in tuner make it ready to plug in and play.

It has the big, full sound you’d expect from a dreadnought, while still giving you plenty of versatility for playing at home, performing, or recording.

Today’s Guitar of the Day is this brand new Cort Earth 60 Dreadnought acoustic in Natural.

The Cort Earth 60 is an outstanding value in the acoustic guitar world! This may not be the most expensive guitar in the shop, but it sure does sound and play pretty darn good at any price point.

$229.99

The Earth 60 features a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, a mahogany neck, laurel fingerboard and bridge, Advanced X-bracing, a dovetail neck joint, 25.5” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, and 20 frets. It also has a classic abalone rosette and black binding, giving it a great vintage-inspired look.

We’ve given this guitar a full-service setup! The frets are level, the saddle is at the right height, and the action is set at 2 mm at the 12th fret. This thing plays absolutely fantastic.

Today’s Guitar of the Day — 2010 Gibson Songwriter Deluxe EC Studio in Natural

This one is a pretty damn cool Gibson.

This is a 2010 Songwriter Deluxe EC Studio, built in Bozeman, Montana, with a solid Sitka spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, and ebony fingerboard and bridge. It has the classic square-shoulder dreadnought body with a Venetian cutaway and a 25.5” scale.

The EC version is equipped with a Fishman Prefix Plus-T pickup/preamp system, and you’ve got Grover Rotomatic tuners, mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays, and Gibson’s nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

The Songwriter is one of those Gibson acoustics that can do a lot—big, powerful dreadnought voice, but still comfortable and versatile enough to work for just about anything you want to throw at it.

And being a 2010, it’s got some of the features from this particular era of Songwriters that you don’t see on the later versions.

Here’s a really cool one that you don’t see every day!

This is a brand-new, new-old-stock Washburn EA20SNB-0 Nuno Bettencourt Signature acoustic-electric. The model was discontinued after Nuno and Washburn parted ways, so this is one of the remaining new examples from the final production run.

The EA20SNB was designed as a stage-ready acoustic with a thin Festival-style body and Florentine cutaway, making it comfortable to play while also providing excellent upper-fret access.

Today’s Guitar of the Day is this Cort Jade Classic Acoustic-Electric in Pastel Pink Open Pore.

This is a really fun little guitar with plenty of personality. The all-mahogany body, comfortable smaller body size and cutaway make it easy to play, while the 24.75” scale and 1 21/32” nut width give it a familiar feel.

It’s equipped with a Laurel fingerboard and bridge, vintage-style tuners, 20 frets and Cort CE304T electronics with 3-band EQ and built-in tuner.
