It is with heavy hearts and after a lot of back and forth that we have had to make the decision to close Kraken at the end of our lease at the end of September. We love the community that we built here so much and want you all to know that this decision did not come lightly, but this is what we decided was best for our own mental health.
It takes a lot to operate a business, and on top of our already packed schedules we have not been able to give our all to this place while still having the time needed for our selves and our family. As much as we love our found family here at Kraken, we need to put our children first. Small business ownership is not easy, so even though we are closing, we ask that you try and support the other local small businesses as much as you can, they deserve it.
So, What does this closing look like?
I want to take the time to answer some questions you all may have, and if you have any that are not addressed here, feel free to reach out on Facebook or Discord for more information.
**When are you closing?**
- We will be operating until the end of our lease at the end of September, or when all merchandise has been sold.
**What about preorders/store credit?**
- We will still have our regular pre-orders available on products we are receiving before the end of September. Any Pre-orders already placed will be honored and are secure. Our distribution lanes are still strong and may remain even after our brick and mortar closure. Store credit will be honored the same as it always has, up until the day we close.
**What about X League?**
- I am actively looking and reaching out to other local businesses to find a place to still have our league(s). We want to leave our community with somewhere to gather and play as we all have grown to enjoy. We will continue to host our events as usual until we are closed.
**Sales?**
- We will soon begin our closing sales with % off sales, and special deals to liquidate our stock and displays. We also will be openly placing special orders every week for any product available from our distributor for a discounted price (just above distributor pricing). We are offering this as a way to give access to product we haven’t had in store that people are requesting. We can get most recent sets of games, board games, accessories, and more! Message or stop in to order items.
We will be operating with the following hours moving forward also:
Thursday - 4:30pm - 10:00pm
Friday - 4:30pm - 10:00pm
Saturday - 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Thank you again to everyone who has come and enjoyed our passion with us. We wanted to create a place for people to come and enjoy their hobbies in a safe and welcoming place, and I think we succeeded in that. Due to a series of unfortunate events, drama, and personal life, we sadly have to walk away. Know this, we do not regret this journey. We made some connections and friends that will continue and last a lifetime. It pains us to make this decision, but we thank everyone for the support and love you have shown us. Thank you.
