A Little Personal Update🤍
Hi friends 👋Vivien here. It’s been a while and honestly this is long overdue. Consider this my wellness check-in and reintroduction, because so much has happened and this felt like the right moment.
Since welcoming my daughter, our world has been beautifully turned upside down but it’s also come with its share of hard days. We’ve been on a journey navigating her diagnosis of fibular hemimelia, a rare congenital condition. While the diagnosis itself wasn’t what weighed on us most, it was the unknown. Not knowing what her next steps would look like, or when procedures might come. That stretched us the thinnest. We’ve sat in countless waiting rooms, seen numerous doctors, and spent late nights deep in research mode. Through it all, the biggest lesson has been this: you have to be your own advocate especially for your littles. No one will fight for them the way you will. We’ve also found so much comfort in connecting with other families walking a similar path and that community has meant everything.
This has also been heavy on my heart because April was Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month and while the month may have passed, this is something I want to bring awareness to every chance I get. The world becomes a more beautiful place when we learn to embrace what makes each of us different. Every person’s story is so unique, so layered, and so incredibly inspiring. And difference is not something to look past… it’s something to celebrate 🧡
