This was not a class about collecting 100 new prompts.

It was about learning how to work with ChatGPT differently.

CUSTOM GPTs ARE RETIRING—but September 17 is not the shutdown date.

I’ve seen the questions and confusion, so let’s deal with what OpenAI actually announced.

Here are the planned dates:

September 17: The GPT-to-Plugin migration experience may begin appearing.

September 25: New custom GPT creation is scheduled to end. If you have a draft that you want to migrate, publish it before the cutoff. It does not have to be shared publicly.

December 11: Custom GPTs are scheduled to stop running.

These dates describe affected Enterprise workspaces. Other plans may follow the same timeline, so check the notice inside your own account.

Now here is the part I need you to catch:

Opening or using a GPT before September 17 does not permanently protect your access.

People who use a GPT will not automatically receive access to its replacement Plugin. The creator will need to migrate it, test it and share the replacement separately.

If you created a GPT, back up your instructions, files, examples and custom-action details now.

If you depend on GPTs created by other people, make a list of them and stay connected to their creators.

I have been creating new ChatGPT skills throughout September, so welcome to another night of Skill-tember.

Tonight’s feature is my Bold Character Quote Studio, and the theme is Creator After Dark—the slightly unhinged reality of having one more idea when your body already told you it was bedtime.

What makes this skill different is that it does not place ordinary text over a generic character. The saying, character, typography and environment are designed as one complete piece of artwork.

I gave it one audience insight and it developed four distinct concepts with different women, poses, settings and visual jokes while maintaining one recognizable collection style.

These could become a social series, printable poster collection, journal-cover set, planner dashboards or coordinated merchandise. That is the real power of a well-built skill: one idea becomes several commercially useful directions.

Your next product idea might already be sitting in a prompt guide you own.

I pulled out my original Caffeine & Cheer Prompt Guide from my holiday bundle in 2024 (a true oldie but goodie) and gave it a fresh assignment with my Prompt Guide Product Studio skill. The guide starts with cozy Christmas pajamas, coffee, and beautiful Black women enjoying a little holiday downtime. Then I asked for a bold, in-your-face graffiti-and-chibi mashup, and this is where we landed!

I created a small sample featuring a journal cover, character sticker, digital paper, bookmark, and illustrated notes page. The colors, artwork, and details connect across the collection, but each piece has its own purpose.

This is what I love about revisiting something I’ve already created. A different art direction and a clear product plan can open up possibilities I hadn’t explored the first time around. And this sample came from just one of the guide’s 12 prompts.

That’s the kind of work I’m sharing for Skill-tember: taking the tools I’m building and showing you what I can actually make with them.

Today I am 54, and apparently my idea of birthday behavior is opening my workshop library and building everybody else a business gift. 😂

Last year, I created the Birthday Box. This year, I wanted to do something that reflected the work I have been teaching throughout 2026 and gave creatives more than another folder filled with random downloads.

So I created The Birthday Build Vault.

I pulled together eleven of my most popular 2026 workshop replays covering branding, Etsy, AI apps, monetization, sticker collections, digital kits, ChatGPT image generation, product listings, and more.
