I missed Al Quds “Jerusalem” newspaper 📰 even though the headlines are always devastating. The newspaper is no longer in every market like it used to because our world has become digital. Today I went to a special bookstore in downtown Ramallah to find it.

🗞️ 1st headline: 5 martyrs killed in Gaza as their homes & cars were targeted.
🗞️ 2nd headline: Palestinians are banned from harvesting olives off of their trees.

The views I enjoyed on my walks in Ramallah everyday. Every day I tried to walk to all my morning meetups with friends & relatives after 7 years of being away from home. I skipped on taxis as much as I can so I can enjoy the details of life, the different flowers, and the olive trees along the way, the little streets and the old houses. It became my little ritual.

By sharing these moments of beauty by no means does it intend to cover nor hide what is happening in Palestine especially where I am now in the West Bank. There is so much to share about what’s happening. Just today I was 2 streets away from a sudden invasion & tear gas b0mbs. It’s extremely difficult times, worse than ever before.

My Father with his Levantinian gifts 🥰 أبي مع لوحاتي
He’s whom I get my Artistic talents from.
He makes some of the best handmade furniture in Palestine. Through all the 0ppression & instabilities of living in the West Bank, he never stopped showing up, improving, building and generously giving. He works hard every single day. He started in his house Garage to expanding into his own Furniture factory, employing and feeding over 70 families.
Last slide is some of his work, a donation handmade piece of furniture he made for a local mosque 🕌. مصنع واصف مطيع للموبيليا
His work today is a Brand name & trademark in Palestine. When I go out & walk in town meeting people and they ask me whose daughter are you? (A normal question here), they often say “your father is as popular as the Palestinian Flag 🇵🇸 “.
Im bragging about my father because i’m proud of him.
I learned so much from him about preserving, giving & showing up no matter the circumstances and uncertainties. And learned to always create and offer high quality products that are worth putting my name on.

Today I made a visit to the iconic Mr. Omar of Tatoos Vintage Palestinian Jewelry shop in Ramallah downtown today. I asked him to take a photo and he said “بس شعراتي منكوشات" my hair is messy. And I captured this laugh! 😆

His shop has been around for decades. It was my favorite shop to walk by after school. I would stop and admire those pieces. It always did something to my Soul. Like it would revive some ancestral memories.

I was wondering on this visit if he’s still around and if his shop has survived through all the political & economical changes. I was so happy when he showed up! Still has the same vibrant positive attitude. He told me “you have to always be optimistic. Look at the sky, do you see this same sky in the U.S? I don’t think so”. I said you’re right. It’s not the same.

I’m on a quest, to revisit old memories that I cherished and loved as I would love to keep those alive within me, and also to explore new experiences and record new memories that would give me a new feeling of my home country. On this land there’s immense pain & beauty co-existing every day.

Honored to witness the Zaffeh of my highschool classmate Fadi Quran . This is Al Bireh city, twin city of Ramallah. The women all wear the same traditional Henna Thob (pre-wedding celebration).
I am a Bierawiyeh, my great grandfather was the first president of Al Bireh municipality. Grateful to be part of my culture during this trip!
