Back in 1999, my friend loaned me the third edition 40K rulebook after I geeked out over his Dark Angels army. Just a few pages in, and I was absolutely hooked. The tone of it, the models, but most of all, the art of the setting.

The majority of the art in that book was done by John Blanche, whose distinctive style really set the standard for how the setting was portrayed for decades to come.

John passed away a few days ago, and this game I love is never quite going to be the same. He has a vast portfolio of artwork for Warhammer games, so I'm sure we will see his work for years to come, and the influence of that art for much longer. But it is definitely a rough realization that we'll never see new work from him again.

The 41st Millennium is still an amazing world to play in, but it's a bittersweet roll of the dice today. On Terra, within the Tower of Heroes, the Bell of Lost Souls tolls for an amazing artist.

If you ever enjoyed some of his fantastic works, please keep him and his family in your thoughts today.

Our June calendar, a few days late :P

Our Students RPG Club is kicking off on Tuesday June 8, from 1:30 to 4PM! It will run until the week before school starts in the fall. We have some space left in our current group, and are looking for GMs for additional tables and games (Not limited to D&D this year, if you want to run a table for other games, awesome!)
