CHAMBER ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP TO HONOR ZANDRA WALKER
Beginning this year, the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will offer the Zandra Walker Heart of Water Valley Scholarship, a $2,500 award created to honor the life and lasting impact of Zandra Walker.
For many years, Zandra was a familiar and welcoming presence at the Chamber, but her influence reached far beyond that office. She was known for her kindness, her steady way of helping others, and the care she showed people day in and day out.
This scholarship has been established to recognize someone who reflects those same qualities.
The Zandra Walker Heart of Water Valley Scholarship will be awarded to a Water Valley graduating senior of strong character, someone who is kind, dependable, and willing to help without being asked. It will honor someone who treats others with respect, takes time to know people, and one who looks for ways to make a positive difference in the lives of those around them. This person should go above and beyond to make a positive impact on the Water Valley community, just as Zandra did.
It is often the small, everyday actions that matter most. This scholarship is meant to recognize someone who understands that and lives it out in the way they carry themselves and care for others.
In that way, the scholarship reflects the heart of what the Chamber strives to represent and what Zandra brought to Water Valley every day.
If you would like to contribute to the scholarship fund, you may mail a check to the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce Zandra Walker Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 206, Water Valley, MS 38965, drop off a donation at the Chamber office, or make a donation in person at BankFirst.
The scholarship will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Reception on Tuesday, April 14 at 6:00 p.m. at Fountain Square.
