Pspsps...The sign on our door reads "Leashed Dogs Welcome" so naturally this cat walked in with the confident swagger of a....CAT! "Dogs? Pfft..." he thought. "I'll show those bookstore people..." Of course dogs usually sit nicely for a treat so we can take a good photo. Cats just do whatever the f they want (see last photo) 🤣 and we love them anyway 🤦‍♀️.

A night of scary stories 👻 Spooky Tales 2026: Haunted Photographs

Nestle amongst the pews at the Waterbury Congregational Church for Bridgeside Books' FIFTH annual Spooky Tales performance, one night only!

Gather close for an evening of Vermont's scariest original stories, written by local authors and performed by Kathryn Blume and Mark Nash. Spooky Tales is a fully scripted, 2-hour performance suitable for mature audiences comprised of 6 short stories with a brief intermission of c***r and donuts sponsored by Cold Hollow C***r Mill.

🎃 Expect tales of ghostly apparitions caught on film, photographs with a story to tell, polaroids gone wrong. Spine chilling horror, goosebump enducing ghost stories, and campfire creeps!

Stories and event is suitable for mature, adult audiences.

Join readers as we gather at Vermont Artisan Coffee & Tea for a morning of reading, local coffee, and a dusting of fall foliage!

Bridgeside Books and The Waterbury Public Library host Silent Reading Parties every month at new locations. Anyone is welcome to join, no sign up or RSVP required!

Show up, grab a seat, and consider ordering something to thank our hosts, Vermont Artisan! You can't miss their giant red coffee barn on Rt 100.

Silent Reading Parties typically consist of 50 minutes of silent reading followed by an optional few words to share what you've read with the group to close!

We hope you'll join us for an afternoon of reading!
