TREEHOUSE is thrilled to welcome Arpie Gennetian arpie gennetian to our growing list of artists whose work we sell and represent. Come see four of her stunning (and beautifully framed) pieces, which feature intricately sewn and illustrated grids of precisely cut vellum. The elegance and simplicity of her design creates a tranquil and satisfying experience for the viewer; her work is a favorite of collectors and interior designers and graces the walls of many architecturally minded spaces in the US and abroad. Just installed in our 4,000 + square foot space and ready for you to take home—DM for more info or stop in 9-6 today, 11-6 tomorrow, 9-6 Friday, 2-6pm Saturday or 12-6 Sunday.

ARPIE GENNETIAN is a fine artist, graphic designer and design historian. She uses her love of lines, color, paper, typography, and thread to begin her works on paper. A grid is the primary compositional structure in Arpie’s work. Her own drawings, together with selections from her growing collection of paper and printed typography, are carefully cropped by hand with scissors and stitched into place to create larger drawings composed of circles on a grid. “My process is about finding beauty in lines and color and form. I don’t look far for inspiration. . . it is everywhere.”

Arpie Gennetian was born and raised in Watertown, Massachusetts and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Graphic Design degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1992. She worked as a graphic designer for the Museum of Modern Art and the architecture firm, Gensler, before shifting her focus to fine art. Arpie’s work has been included in the artist registry at the Drawing Center in New York City. She has exhibited at galleries in New Jersey, New York City, and Boston, and her artwork is in many private collections throughout the U.S. She works from her studio just outside New York City and has recently received her Master of Arts in History of Design and Curatorial Studies at Parsons School of Design and Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.

Both The Phoenix and TREEHOUSE will be closed tomorrow, as we will be attending the graduation of our longtime family friend, the poet Rowan Riggs, from Montpelier’s New School. Rowan we are so proud of you and what you’ve accomplished and are honored to call you our friend and to celebrate this day with you and your family.

A heart
beat for the world,
bobbing and weaving like a champion,
word-slinging deft no look passes in the paint
soul courage gushing up and out like a geyser,
signaling tectonic shifts coming for the unbalanced
and the unjust—
only arriving as
a freshness filling, a dawning for the ache-resolve.

—Joseph Pensak for Rowan Riggs, on the occasion of your graduation, 2026

TREEHOUSE co-owner Anna Black reads…a lot. New used book arrivals from Anna’s ever expanding “Read-it” (BOOM) list. We have had so much back stock from all of your used book donations we haven’t needed to do a receiving day for a while; we will be having one this coming Sunday, July 19th, from 12-6pm so bring your 1) non-water damaged 2) good condition 3) not dumb 4) any genre, preferably something you loved/are raving about so others can share in your stoke…BOOKS for us to keep in circulation cos we’re all about helping redistribute the word wealth (BOOM). Our suggestion (which many of you have taken) is to buy your books from not-Amazon and then bring them to us for used book credit. Or donate them to Bridgeside cos their used book sales go to charity. Then you’re like part of the solution and not adding to the problem, man. TREEHOUSE is open today 9-6pm, come do a co-working day, take a meeting and enjoy freshly brewed BRIO coffee while you do it.

In other news Waterbury we got four fresh boxes of new arrival vinyl for you to come and git. Also lots of new releases from Olivia Rodrigo, Panda Bear & Sonic Boom, SML, Kalia Vandever, Paul McCartney and more.

New art arrivals from Katherine Clarke Langlands and coming real soon, work by The Phoenix solo show star .lynn.burke (her show SENSITIVE SEEDS opens this Friday, 6-8pm, FREE) and one of Joseph’s favorite artists anywhere, Hannah Morris.
