We would like to thank everyone who came out and supported our local Lake Effect Shop Hop. We had many returning customers, and some new ones as well. Most everyone was understanding and supportive of our new No Bag Policy. Actually, many enjoyed not having to carry a purse or bag, which was safe and secure in a locker!

Friendly reminder: Our local shop hop is this Friday and Saturday, October 2nd and 3rd. There are seven shops participating. If you still need a passport, visit one of the participating shops with $7 and prepare for the fun begin!

I apologize for not including more information. The $7 passport includes 7 tickets - one for each shop for a gift certificate drawing at each shop. You will be receiving some fabric from each shop... If you go to all 7 shops, you will have a jelly roll! Also, the more shops you go to, the more prizes you are eligible to win. The grand prize is a beautiful sewing machine!

We are back on track now... here is our latest unboxing. We fell behind a little the past couple days... we have about 8 more boxes to do!

I would like to take a moment to thank you for your encouragement and suggestions. Last night I needed to walk away from all of this and reevaluate what we are doing well and where we need to improve.

This evening I am going through each message and compiling a list of suggestions that you have made - thank you! I have not finished this process yet, but I wanted to pause and let you know how amazing you are and that you are restoring our faith in quilters and humanity!

Bobby and I are overwhelmed with the love and support you have given us. At this time, we are not giving up; we are going to make some changes and see how things go. We recently added more cameras and curved mirrors. We already have a walk-through security system and this has caught a few unscrupulous people. We will continue to prosecute shoplifters and have them legally served with No Trespass Orders (if this is violated, it is a felony).

I do encourage this: If you see something, please say something. I would rather give some people "extra attention" than to find out about shady behavior after the fact.

At this time, we are working toward a bit of rearranging, locking up precuts, and instituting a no bag policy. Please feel assured that closing will be our last resort. We want to continue this journey with you, providing our quilting friends with quality fabric, fun classes, clean machines, and friendly service with a little quirky banter (mostly from Bobby!).

Today was a day that crushed my heart. We have recently invested in a new security system and more cameras, but I have come to realize that people who want to steal will continue to do so. Since April, with just precuts, we have had $859.96 stolen! I am almost afraid to continue inventory - kits and notions are not in this amount.

Some other shops have a no bag policy... Some don't carry precuts any longer.... and some are closing. I don't want to do any of those things, but maybe I need to. Maybe I invest more money and get a glass locking cabinet?

Believe what you want, but Bobby and I have not only invested our savings and retirements into this business, but also an exorbitant amount of time. Every penny that has come into the shop has been reinvested - that is how we have grown our business - we have pocketed NOTHING.

I am truly wondering if this is even worth it any more.
I am sad and frustrated; thanks for listening to my rant.
