On Tonight’s Edition of eBay Follies….
A “customer” messaged us Saturday while we were busy at a convention and was making an offer on an item using the shrewd negotiating tactic of a number followed by a question mark. Much to their chagrin we didn’t respond quickly enough so they followed with an apology. We were still busy so a few minutes later they purchased the item at full price. Then less than 2 hours later they asked to cancel the transaction. They cited the reason as “the item won’t arrive in time”. In time for what? They purchased an item halfway through the day on a Saturday and expected it to ship the same day without ever communicating with the seller to see if that was possible BEFORE making the purchase? Sounds like they found the item cheaper or had a buyer for the item who backed out. Sorry but we don’t exist to supply re-sellers. Especially those who have been involved in the collectibles world for a minute and a half and think they are experts. Judging by their AI generated profile pic, they probably sell on Whatnot. How would you have handled this situation?
