Today we installed a new blower on one of our Rodgers/Carlson hybrid organs. The original blower died in February, and today we installed the new one. In addition, we also relocated the blower into the adjoining mechanical room onto the wall, rather than the uninsulated tower room behind the organ pipes. The tuning varied during the winter and summer months because the extreme temperatures in the tower were affecting the pipes during playing. Controlled by a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), the blower is now running on its proper 240v 3-phase circuit, instead of a “phantom third-leg” capacitor. The VFD also allows us to slowly ramp up the motor speed slowly instead of shocking the motor with full-power when first turned on, and also allows us to monitor the hours the motor runs and to indicate when it needs oiling. Plus, this unit is incredibly quiet, you don’t even know it turned on.

We recently finished installing a new Daminato organ blower for the Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany on their 1980’s Carlson organ. While we were there tuning for Christmas last year, the Meidinger blower started smoking. We installed a temporary blower to get them through Christmas. Now we just finished installing the new Italian Daminato blower and are very pleased with the results. This unit is extremely quiet without any housing necessary, and provides rock solid wind beyond full organ and many fistful of notes.

Relocated the chimes of this Austin organ so we could accommodate the new in-chamber reservoir. Chime canopies finished off the front of the Chancel.

We recently finished up the installation of the new reservoir for Austin Organ Opus 1094 from early 1900’s.

The organ was a transplant into this church in the 1950’s. One major modification was removing the large regulator wall of the Austin Universal Airchest and placing it underneath the floor joists of the choir loft. This made for very bouncy winding. We installed a new 30”x42” curtain valve reservoir inside the chamber on the side wall next to the door and plumbed it into the back of the airchest with (2) 6” PVC ducts. The results are clear!
