We have just a few things to button up on the new Funkengruven truck this week before heading to the Budweiser Dairyland Super National Truck and Tractor Pull with NTPA Truck and Tractor Pulling in Tomah, WI this weekend!
This has been a huge project for us this year with a crazy amount of hours packed into a few months. Although there was a lot of design time and planning put in ahead of time with this build the first actual piece of metal was cut for it on March 21st and exactly 3 months later it started and drove for the first time.
We are very fortunate to have such a good team around us to help pull this all together! We can't thank UNISIG enough for all of the help and support on this build from machining billet intercoolers to the use of state of the art fabrication equipment to laser cut and cnc bending almost all of the components to put this truck together. The technology and equipment is incredible.
Without the help of our friends and family it would've been impossible to get this truck out this summer.
Thank you Jon & Tiff for the absurd amount of time, knowledge, part expediting, special deliveries, tools, machining, etc. expended putting this truck together! The skills Jon brings to the team is unrivaled.
Thanks to our good Friend Aaron at Strip-It for the paint and powder coating work, He did a great job with it! Aaron is also always willing to lend a hand and jump in when needed.
Thanks to Mark another good friend of ours and the manager of the Fabrication depart at UNISIG for all of the high precision welding, advice, and help along the way. Mark always pulls through when we need something and are always in a time crunch.
Thanks Dad and Vicky, we try to keep them as busy as possible with various projects, parts/tool deliveries, etc. They are always good for some comic relief as well!
Thanks to our wives and Mom for supporting us, these last few months have not been easy with the amount of time spent in the shop but they are our rock and keep home base running, manage the kids needs, plan shop dinners, coffee, ice cream, beverage dropoffs, organize and prepare the toter, as well as a million other unseen things.
When we were in the thick of things we realized that the toterhome maintenance needs were not met and if it hadn't been for our friend Doug dropping everything and running the toter down to our long time friend Blane who owns a trucking company "C&C Transit" the maintenance just plain would not have got done. Blane and Doug worked an entire day replacing wheel studs, wheel seals, exhaust, did all of the fluids and filters, greased, etc. If it wasn't for those 2 we probably would've been stuck on the side of the road somewhere between home and MN for the first pull. Thanks for that guys!
Although we try to make and do about everything we can we are not able to do everything, Thanks to the following parts/component suppliers. Kenny's Pulling Parts & Machine, Proformance Pros, Chaos Fabrication LLC, K3Tire, Brad Ingram with Scheid Diesel, Hart's Diesel, Hypermax, Wagler Competition Products. Sorry probably forgetting a few.
Long post but if you get to this point, do you think the weight of empty adult beverages consumed in the assembly of this truck exceeded the weight of the aluminum to put the chassis together?
