A fire pit tip for you - improve your airflow for a better campfire!

Campers love our Grab & Go boxes because they’re easy. But no matter what fuel you’re using in your fire, you need good airflow to have better combustion (less smoke and more heat)! Using rocks, a grate, cardboard, or even just a raised ring of sand/dirt/ash to raise your logs up can help the air flow underneath and feed the fire. Each picture on this post shows a different method - and if you need an ember retainer or grate, we’ve got them in our online store!

Travel tip: make sure your fire is completely out before leaving!

A campfire is one of the best things about camping, but let’s make sure we’re as careful as possible about fire safety. To ensure your fire is completely out when you’re done:

1. Pour generous amounts of water over the fire, add some soil

2. Stir the ash & embers with a stick until everything is wet

3. Feel it. It should be completely cool to the touch before you leave! If not, repeat steps 1 and 2 until cooled down.

3 tips for a seamless camping trip 🔥🏕

June is national camping month! Let’s talk about a few ways to make your next trip go as smoothly as possible:

1. Bring a fully stocked first aid kit - even if you think you won’t need it, bring it if it’s a safety essential! Better to have it and not need it, than the other way around. Examples of items include bandages, bandaids, allergy medication, bug bite/sting relief, antiseptic wipes, cleansing supplies, and tweezers.

2. Make sure you have enough fuel for your fire! Ok, we’re biased on this one - the easiest way to do this is to stock up on the fuel you’ll need instead of relying on gathering wood at your camping location (especially because this is not always allowed). Our All-Wood Firelogs are easy to store, stack, and can be transported anywhere unlike regular firewood!

We have several products that include ready-made fires in a bag or box, all kindling and fuel included - just light the bag or box. Check out our online store to order!

3. Practice your setup BEFORE the trip! There’s nothing worse than getting there and realizing you forgot something essential - so do a trial run before packing up the car and heading out.

Campfire season is upon us! Knowing how to safely enjoy a fire in the outdoors is essential for responsible camping. Our first tip: make sure your setup spot is correctly prepared.

It should be far from your tent, level, have at least 5 feet of cleared of brush around it and ring of rocks around the fire area, and be protected from wind.
