A-major Music will be closed today 7/28 at our storefront due to the storms that came through yesterday. The safety of our staff and customers is very important to us.

More than 50,000 ComEd customers in Lake County are currently without power due to the storms.

The Lake County Division of Transportation has also received numerous reports of trees and other debris blocking roadways. Please slow down and use extra caution if you’re driving tonight.

A-major Music will be closed today, Saturday, July 25th to allow us to remember our founder, Marion, and attend her services.

We will re-open on Monday, July 27th at 10am.

We are all deeply saddened to share that we have lost one of our A-major Music founders, Marion Osenga. Our hearts go out to Marion’s family and friends.

Marion founded A-major Music in 1984 with Jo Dooley after 25 years of teaching music and managing Andrews Edwards, a regional music store. As General Manager of Andrews Edwards, Marion was a great salesperson, administrator and a courageous business person and developer of talent.

For the many musicians, teachers, staff and families that passed through the doors of A-major Music in Waukegan or Gurnee, Marion set the stage with a smile and so much more for our community to access music, develop and grow and build a lifetime of music that will last for generations.

It’s hard to imagine how life will unfold when you first begin your journey in music or how much it takes to build the foundation for music education in our comminity. Marion spent over 6 decades cultivating her dream of a music store and building a place that we all enjoyed. We will never forget that.

Marion will always be missed by her A-major Music family, friends and community. We will carry on her legacy at A-major Music and in our own music journeys.

The Waukegan Tamburitzans will host the first Annual Weakley Memorial Picnic with food, drinks, music and dancing! The junior Tamburitzans and Alumni will share their music in the afternoon.

Izvor will be playing your favorite kolo dances from 7-9. Cash bar, 50/50 raffle, and bake sale. It’s all at the Zion Moose Outdoor Pavilion. All are welcome! 🎶

Village of Gurnee Gurnee Park District

Gurnee's America 250 Celebration will take place this Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Viking Park. This community event honors the nation's 250th anniversary and kicks off with a "Star-Spangled Stroll & Roll" youth parade starting at Fire Station 1, where families can decorate bikes, wagons, or strollers before parading down Old Grand Avenue.

Attendees can enjoy local food trucks, a live concert lineup featuring the Lake County Symphony Orchestra and the rock tribute band Mellencougar, and family activities, all culminating in a spectacular fireworks show.

It’s cooler 😎 by the lake 🌊 🎶!

Waukegan Band Foundation tonight at 7:30pm! 🎷

Today sure was hot outside, but don’t forget— it’s usually cooler by the lake! So come join us this Tuesday, June 30, for a refreshing concert at 7:30pm at the Stiner Pavilion along the Waukegan Lakefront! This week’s holiday theme is St. Patrick’s Day, highlighting many great Irish reels and melodies.

The Waukegan Park District will have arts activities in the back to quietly enjoy during the outdoor music concert. Don’t forget to also bring a lawn chair, bug spray, and your friends and family! Parking & concert admission is always free.
