Martha Merrell’s Bookstore is owned and operated by Norm and Eve Bruce. They purchased the store in 1996 and have improved and expanded the store ever since.

When her clairvoyant grandmother has a vision of imminent catastrophe, Jessie feels like her life as an emerging artist was hijacked, along with all her plans and dreams for the future.

Jessie, and her dog, Wolfie, flee with Grammie to AspenRidge, their isolated off-grid retreat in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. The next day, a cyber-attack destroys the power-grid. While AspenRidge provides most of life’s necessities, the cities they left behind are an unrecognizable underworld of chaos, and Jessie fears her father won’t make it home from his conference in England.

After a brutal winter, Jessie meets Shawn, a combat veteran who struggled with PTSD. In a story woven with myth and magic amid the beauty and storied history of the American West, Jessie and Shawn navigate the dangers and challenges of a post-apocalyptic world. They must face their deepest fears, and discover if love can survive the uncertainties of their strange new world.

For the past 2 Friday evenings, Waukesha GuitarTown at Martha Merrell's Books has hosted bands that offered a different variety of music than our usual bands perform. We are delighted that the Duo from Galilee and COLO shared their musicianship with enthusiastic audiences that included new faces as well as our regular fans. Thanks to both groups; we look forward to having them back for return visits! We end the month of July with SilverThread who will perform indoors on the 31st in The City of Waukesha, starting at 6:30 PM. Join us for another great night of music!

Patricia DeBlaey on vocals & Frank Janzow on guitar and vocals
they truly spun a tapestry of Songs!

Patricia DeBlaey's mellifluous voice complemented by Frank Janzow's rich, warm guitar & vocals delivered a cornucopia of musical styles: Jazz(Roberta Flack etc); Folk Pop (James Taylor, John Denver, etc); Rock (the Beatles; Mama Cass etc); and many others.

We promise you they will be back - don't miss them if you see them on our pages.

If you enjoy historical fiction or are a history buff, take a look at Mark Frost's THE AMERICAN SPHINX which focuses on FDR during WWII. While described as a novel, it reads like a biography due to the author's access to his cousin's diaries that chronicle his time of serving as an advisor to Roosevelt.
