Orchestral String Instruments Provide Challenges with Changing Weather!

Winter String Instrument Care
1. Keep Your Instrument in a Closed Case During Storage - it helps keep a consistent climate inside your case.
2. In-Case Instrument Humidifiers - Inexpensive way to keep humidity levels 35-50% humidity to protect your instrument. Available at White House of Music.
3. Avoid Heat Sources - Keep away from radiators and space heaters.
4. Cold Instruments - The instrument will take time to reach room temperature. It will likely be out of tune and may need to be tuned up multiple times.

If you are a string player and plan to visit the White House String Shoppe to try some of our wonderful violins, violas, cellos, or basses, you may wish to bring easy, familiar sheet music with you. If you have a bow, shoulder rest, or other accessory that you would like to keep using with your new instrument, you are welcome to bring them. Encountering an unfamiliar instrument can be challenging, and we want you to be able to focus on the feel and tone of the instruments you are playing without distractions.
