Hobbies are what make life entertaining. It makes you well rounded, skilled, knowledgeable, equipped, useful, productive, and incredibly interesting!

Not to mention off the stinkin phone.

Gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing, candle making, plant identification, herbalism, beekeeping, instruments, pottery, the list is endless!!

You don’t have to be a pro, just get into it and start learning.

Get that mind workin, and hands dirty, and learn something old!

To the men who retired their wife:

Thank you. Thank you for working hard so I can stay home. Thank you for your hours of sacrifice everyday. Thank you for the feeling of freedom and choices. Thank you for the time and moments I have with our children. Thank you for tackling the hard decisions, taking my council, and taking on the outcome, good or bad. Thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for being a man of your word. Thank you for being the head of our family. Thank you.

We see you. We see the effort. We see the discipline. We see the quiet moments of hardship that you hold in and keep to yourself. We see the tired eyes accompanied by the smile of accomplishment. We see the battle of being everything you can be for us. We see the joy you have when you meet our needs. We see you notice when you need to protect us. We see you.

But remember. Remember you’re not alone. Remember I am your right hand. Remember you have a Heavenly Father. Remember you have an unshakable faith. Remember even when we are not okay, we are okay because of who we belong to. Remember I was designed to be your helpmate. Remember I will stand firm and unshakable by your side. Remember we are one flesh. But remember.

Most of all, remember and see how thankful we are and how much we love you.

My husband recently got into fishing (bout time!) and it rekindled my joy of it too. And it’s something we can enjoy doing together.

We caught this cute little baby fish the other day. ID em in the comments! Unhelpful tip, it’s my fave type of fish to fish for. But that is probably only because I have never caught a musky…yet lol

He’s light guides.

One of my favorite chapters is James 1.

Consider it all joy when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

*I wrote this 5 years ago to the day. And I don’t regret making this decision.*

I hung up the belt last week, and not for the reason you may think.

I have been a police Officer for 6 years. I worked for my department for almost 10 years total. I met my husband there, and we have two beautiful girls.

I wanted to be a police Officer since I was a little girl. I was a tomboy who liked sports, getting muddy and proving that I was just as tough as the boys.

I loved being a police Officer. I loved meeting people from all walks of life and to hear their stories. I loved sharing advice to people who needed direction. If a tragedy were to happen, I wanted to be there to help. I loved being a servant to my community.

I love my Blue family, my partners who protected me and I them. We are more than just coworkers, partners or even friends. We are truly a family.

Trust me, there is a lot of evil that shows it’s face in this field and a lot to hate about it. But God lead me through that evil and I knew whatever was going to come my way, God was with me.

I left because I felt a new calling. One that some would say is controversial. Especially during a time when the ideal woman has a masculine attitude, is breaking glass ceilings and busting out of molds…

I left because I felt the call to be a homemaker. Yep, that’s right. From one extreme to the other. I want to take care of my own children myself, to care for my husband, and to keep a peaceful, clean and loving home.

People can say what they will about stay at home moms, but having a mother in the home is one of Gods greatest gifts. Mother’s raise up the next generation of men and woman. I really can’t think of a more foundational or important roll.

I think we have been tricked into thinking a two income household is what is best for society. What we need now more than ever is strong men and strong women who are founded in morality and walk with God.

Women, if you ever felt the call to take responsibility of your home and care for your family in the deepest way. You’re not alone and you’re feeling that call for a reason. Go after it.
