Happy Book Lovers Day. 📚❤️ Especially to the little humans because they have power.

This little girl inspired an adult who hadn’t read a book in a decade to pick one up again. I watched her spark and joy.
The absolute magic that happened when she discovered a story she loved. I wanted to share that with her.

And suddenly, I was a kid again. Reading The Chronicles of Narnia for the first time. Feeling incredibly proud that this ESL kid was reading a “big book.” Reading it in a day. And falling completely in love.

Somewhere along the way, I rediscovered the reader I had been & healed the little girl who wanted more books but didn’t have access to them.

And a few years later, that little girl helped inspire me to open a bookstore.

So yeah. Happy Book Lovers Day, kids. 🥹📚

North Texas Book Crawl • What makes an independent bookstore so special anyway?

It’s the little things.

Like our Kitchen Series gift set with If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, a hand-wrapped box of cookie mix, a whisk, and a spatula. Because I know some of the best childhood memories are made when you slow down, read together, and bake cookies afterward.

Or the real fossils and pieces of space matter on our shelves. They’re there because they come from one of my favorite small businesses from the years I lived in Tulsa, and I wanted to share that same sense of wonder here.

Or the book-and-stuffy sets, because my daughter absolutely loves finding a story with a matching friend to cuddle.

Or the shelf recommendations filled with books you may have never heard of before. That’s part of what makes independent bookstores different. We’re here to help you discover your next favorite story not just stock the same bestsellers everyone already knows.

An independent bookstore isn’t just shelves filled with books.

It’s someone’s heart.

It’s someone’s favorite stories.

And in our case, it’s the little ESL girl who couldn’t afford bookstore trips growing up deciding to build the kind of bookstore she wished she’d had even if it starts in just 180 square feet.

Every independent bookstore has a story behind it.

When you shop local, you’re not just buying a book. You’re investing in someone’s dream, your community, and the next generation of readers.

We’re wandering a little less this month so we can focus on launching some exciting new things for our little bookstore!

🧪 Have a birthday party or community event coming up?
Our STEM Station Rentals are officially launching! Rent hands-on science stations for your guests, and ask us about our bulk book discounts for party favors.

🩺 Homeschool families:
Our first Health Science class begins September 9, and we still have 6 spots available! If your child loves science, we’d love to have them join us.

👕 Our online shop is almost here!
Independent bookstores often rely on more than book sales to keep their doors open. Since our shop is small, we didn’t want to sacrifice valuable shelf space for apparel and gifts. Instead, we’re launching an online merch shop where you can order for in-store pickup or shipping right to your door.

Every great wizard deserves a wand. ✨⚡️

Thank you, The Wyrd and Wand Archive, for letting us share a little STEM magic during your Happy Birthday, Harry Potter celebration! Watching so many young wizards build their own light-up wands & learn about simple circuits was everything we dreamed and wanted to do when we started our STEM stations.

🚨 THIS Saturday 9a-12 we are Wandering Into…Waxahachie ISD’s Operation 1st Day of School from 9 AM–12 PM at J.W. Williams Gymnasium!

WOW! Isn’t Waxahachie awesome?! 💛 What a fun way to kick off a brand new school year!

We’ll be giving away:
📖 3 FREE books for every incoming Kindergarten student
📚 1 FREE book for every student in 1st–12th grade

✨ Limited to 300 books total and available while supplies last.

One of my favorite parts of this event is that these books aren’t just from us. A portion of them was donated by a generous community members who wish to remain anonymous. ❤️

We absolutely love being a facilitator for neighbors who believe every child deserves access to books. We couldn’t do this without our incredible community, and that’s what makes being a mission-driven bookstore so special. Together, we get to put more stories into the hands of kids!

While you’re there, be sure to enjoy everything else the event has to offer: free backpacks filled with school supplies, food trucks, bounce houses, games, local resources, and so much more.
