The pumpkin patch is really starting to show off. 🎃✨

Every walk through the field brings a little more color, a few more pumpkins, and another fun variety making its appearance. It’s one of those moments we’ve been waiting for all season.

As excited as I am for crisp mornings, hot cider, and all things fall… can we ask summer to slow down just a little? There are still so many flowers to grow, bouquets to make, and sunsets to enjoy before we trade them for pumpkin season.

Until then, we’re doing what farmers do— trying to stay ahead of the weeds and keep pests at bay while cheering on every pumpkin that’s sizing up. There’s still plenty of work ahead, but seeing the patch come alive makes every sweaty afternoon worth it.

Fall is on the horizon 🍂💛 Please don’t hate me for reminding you 😂

After months of waiting… she’s finally here. ✨

Our very first lisianthus has officially bloomed.

These little beauties were started back in January, under the grow lights for months, and finally into the ground and potted up after last frost. They’ve been babied through months of watering, fertilizing, transplanting, netting, weeding, and plenty of wondering, “Are they ever going to bloom?”

And now? I’d say they were worth every bit of the wait.

There’s a reason lisianthus is considered one of the luxury flowers in the floral world. The soft, ruffled petals, the elegant stems, the incredible vase life… chef’s kiss. 🤌🌸

Watching the first bloom open feels like a little reward for trusting the process, even when it takes far longer than you’d hoped.

Now excuse me while I spend the rest of the season obsessing over every single stem. 💕

The first pumpkins are finally popping up, and we’re already dreaming about fall. 🎃🌱

What these little sprouts don’t show is the amount of work that went into getting them here.

Shane has spent countless hours preparing this field, fixing equipment, planting, irrigating, and battling whatever challenge the farm decided to throw at him that day. And the kids? Well… they’ve been promoted to the very prestigious position of Assistant Pumpkin Farmers.

It wasn’t exactly a job they applied for.

There have been plenty of, “Do we have to?” “How much longer?” and suspiciously convenient bathroom breaks. Somehow every trip down each row, seedling tray to plant, or irrigation line to lay became an Olympic-level endurance event. 😂

But despite the negotiations, dramatic sighs, and occasional attempts to disappear into the barn, they’ve helped build this pumpkin patch one chore at a time.

One day they’ll probably look back and remember the afternoons and evenings spent working together a little more fondly than they do right now. (At least that’s what we’re telling ourselves.)

For now, we’re just grateful to see the first signs of pumpkin growth. Here’s hoping these little plants grow into pumpkins that are every bit as memorable as the stories behind them.

Fall, we’ll be ready for you. 🧡

The dream: Long, lush 4-foot-wide beds overflowing with snapdragons. 🌸✨

The reality: Trying to reach the edge without becoming part gymnast, part tightrope walker, and part ninja.

Harvesting means balancing on tiptoes, stretching as far as possible, trying not to snap off perfectly good blooms, avoiding stepping on neighboring plants, and somehow pulling stems back through the Hortinova netting without bringing half the bed with them. 😅

Will we grow snapdragons again? Absolutely.

Will we rethink the bed width? Also absolutely. 😂

Flower farming is a constant mix of dreaming, learning, adjusting, and trying again. Thankfully, the flowers make all the awkward harvesting worth it.

The first lisianthus bud popped up! These seeds were started early February and are sooo slow, but everyone says so worth it. So we will see!! Can’t wait to keep watching them progress.

The feverfew are making their way into the mix this week and snaps are at their peak. So many fun colors and bloom shapes. Overheating in the greenhouse was worth the overflowing bucket I harvested tonight 🥵🤩

Last year, Bloomwell started with a small garden plot and a what if idea🌱

This year, we expanded the cut flower field in ways we could have never imagined — more rows, more growing space, more flowers, and so much more work behind the scenes to make it happen.

What started as an idea became weekends full of prepping beds, planning irrigation, hauling supplies, testing soil, problem-solving, and figuring things out as we went. And none of it would have been possible without the many hands that showed up to help bring this field to life 🤍

We’re so grateful for every friend, family member, neighbor, and encouraging voice that has poured time, effort, and support into Bloomwell. This field holds more than flowers — it holds community, hard work, and a whole lot of faith.

Now the seedlings are ready, the rows are waiting, and we’re one step closer to seeing this space in full bloom ✨
