I haven't been very active over the past year, and I don't anticipate that changing soon. It's hard to turn away custom orders, but it's been nice to have more free time for family, friends, and other hobbies. Im not going away for good - drums are a passion of mine as is woodworking and building one of a kind, custom pieces of functional art. I am, however, stepping back temporarily. This is my newest build and am very proud of it. I designed / built a custom CNC machine to cut these shells more accurately and consistently than I can do by free hand turning on the lathe. The drums are African mahogany shells with a minimalistic approach to the hardware and some custom 3D printed bits to personalize it even more. This kit is staying with me! Thanks for all your support over the past 15 years!

Second drum of 2023 Shipping out today. I've been very behind lately on getting orders out on time - so a huge thank you to all that have patience and worked with me. I am (for the first time in 15 years) caught up on custom orders! I've turned away a few orders and have been selective about the drums I build lately. I plan on taking a break from building new drums for a bit. I have a few projects I'm working on (building a drum kit for myself) and some drums I'll offer up for sale that are currently in process (including a beautiful set of walnut dunun (let me know if interested!) Honestly, I just need a break from a constant to-do list.

This exquisite beast of a bass djembe boasts a 14.5" diameter head. Crafted from the finest local Black Walnut lumber and featuring a bonded 3/8" industrial rubber foot to add protection. The beautiful juxtapose of the sand infused rope against a unique aqua teal patterned fabric wraps expertly rolled and welded steel rings to securely and confidently tensions a cowhide head that just so happens to perfectly wrap the contours of a meticulously crafted bearing edge.

Ladies and gentlemen - this is no joke!

First drum I ever built, probably 20+ years ago. Hand carved from a pine tree that was hit by lightning and fell on powerlines. The power company came out and cut it into sections... I grabbed a few chuncks and this is the only one that made it to drum form. I worked on it on and off for about a year before I finally headed it. I love reconnecting with this little drum when I visit my parents farm!

Repairing a separated stave on old gon bops conga. Ive spread it open enough to get a razorblade in there and clean out the old glue before I epoxy the crack. In two days it will be fully cured and ready to throw on the lathe to sand it all back smooth- repair some minor cracks, and refinish the drum.
