These are the last easy evenings down by the river. In a few weeks the mountain starts socking in, and anybody who drives I-64 over Afton knows exactly what that looks like. VDOT runs a whole fog warning system for it. But right now the South River Greenway after supper is about as good as Waynesboro gets, and there are not many of those nights left.

The Wayne Theatre on West Main has its 2026-27 season lined up now, titled "For the Love." It is the kind of venue a lot of towns this size lost decades ago and never got back. Waynesboro kept theirs, restored it, and it is still doing the job a downtown theater is supposed to do.
