Open Vise Night is in full swing! Fantastic time with Patty and lots of great friends of the shop. We are so blessed to have such a motley crew at the shop tonight. So many laughs, so many beers, and loads of ridiculously tied flies.

We would like to take a moment to welcome the newest addition to the Shining Rock Team- Darryl Brown. This man was born and raised right here in Haywood County. A master tyer of dry flies, he specializes in the fine art of recreating some of Southern Appalachia’s most storied patterns. Darryl’s flies catch fish! They just do. They are nearly indestructible to boot. He now ties them exclusively for Shining Rock. Darryl will be making weekly appearances on Saturdays, starting August 22nd. He’ll be tying flies and sharing advice that comes from a lifetime of fly fishing the 828. We are proud to be your home shop and are proud to have your flies in-house, Darryl.

As always, we thank you for being here. The outpouring of local support has been dizzying. To our local friends that have been sending the vacationing folks to us, we can’t come up with words that will adequately express our gratitude. We return the favor every chance we get.
