All mowers are not built the same.

Sometimes you pay more for ease of normal day to day functions.

Leveling your deck is a common experience, especially for commercial equipment. You shouldn't have to spend an arm and leg every time you hit something to get your deck adjusted.

This mower in particular is level expert, vs easy, when it comes to leveling the deck. Purchasing a mower is more than just how much it cost up front.

Cost of ownership is something very few people in the market for new equipment think about.

Ask the dealership all the questions. They should be happy to explain and show you, how to maintain, how to do minor adjustments, and how much your replacement parts would be.

Compare those things from brand to brand, before you make a decision.

Then, sometimes you find a brand like Grasshopper, who is affordable, built with the end user in mind, and built to handle your wife using it on the daily😉

Let's talk warranty.

When your equipment is under warranty, our hands are tied on the outcome, and on if the manufacturer is going to cover the repair or not.

Our job is to go through the unit, submit the pictures, the complaint, and wait on them to tell us how they want us to proceed. They are paying the bill for you, so they get to decide what we can do to the unit.

This unit was purchased from Lowes. Lowes doesn't have a service center, so they send customers with issues here.

The compression on this unit is 40psi, it should be around 150-180. The air filter is clogged with what appears to be dog hair, spark plug ashed over, carbon build up, scoring on the piston and cylinder, all indicating that the until has not been maintained well.

There is a SLIGHT possibility that the unit had an airleak, but if it did the customer would have had issues well before the amount of carbon built up.

It seems more likely based on the pieces of the puzzle that the unit had straight gas put in it, causing the issues.

We HAVE to send in the pictures, we have to submit the appropriate documents, and we have no control on the outcome.

Warranty covers manufacturer component defects, and craftsmanship issues, not consumer neglect, or abuse.

We are like crime scene investigators examining the situation at hand trying to pinpoint what went wrong.

Owning your own business is hard. Like, really hard. One of the most stressful things I have ever done.

But, moments like these, having your kids grow up working with you, learning a trade, how to be an entrepreneur, being able to see them grow in a field that will actuallly help them in life, and hear about their day while taking care of the business, it is a perk, and one that often goes unnoticed.

Behind the scenes, our kids help out around the shop. Peyton has been "working" here unofficially since he was 10, and "officially" since he was 15. He has went from learning to sweep to now he is a technicians assistant, welding, working on equipment, oil changes, etc.

To have a career that benefits our kids future the way this business has, is a flex, that I often forget during the chaos of the day to day.
