August & September we’ve been busy pruning the Virginia Pines & because of the extreme heat and ongoing drought we have had to start watering the little trees to help them survive. The larger trees are looking very good and we anticipate a nice crop of trees to be available this coming season!

With temperatures pushing 100° for multiple days now and more to come & then no rain in the past 3 weeks and none in the forecast that leaves us with little options. Time to start watering trees. The little ones are the most vulnerable, the larger ones are more drought resistant but we will keep a close eye on them.

Sometimes we have to prune off the ladder to reach the tops of our larger trees. For reference that’s an 8ft ladder, so some of those trees are in excess of 12ft tall!

The process of planting trees started today! We had to change things up a little bit because our tractor that we usually dig the holes with is currently broke down and waiting for parts. At one point I looked up and noticed I had an audience watching me.

Don’t forget that our farm is a tree recycling drop off location. Please make sure all lights and decorations are removed before you drop them off. Drop off location is just inside the gate.
