🍎 Opening Weekend is getting closer!

Nelson’s Apple Farm in Webster, Minnesota opens for the season Saturday, September 19!

📅 Opening Weekend: September 19–20
⏰ Farm hours: 10 AM–6 PM

We’ll also be celebrating Opening Weekend with our Craft & Vendor Show, and we’re still accepting vendors! Crafters, makers, small businesses and direct-sales vendors are welcome. Interested in joining us? Send us a message for details.

And come hungry — Apple Dandies is rolling into the farm for Opening Weekend!

The Apple Dandies trailer will be serving hot Apple Dandies fresh from the fryer, family-recipe seasoned burgers, cold cider slushies and more.

One of the things we enjoy about The Farm Store — our retail area — is being able to carry products that have a story behind them.

A few years ago, we met John Morley at the Steele County Free Fair, and we’ve been bringing his Morley’s Maple Syrup back to Nelson’s Apple Farm ever since.

This year’s supply is here and ready for the season.

And if you’re like us and sometimes get stuck thinking maple syrup is only for pancakes, we also have a maple syrup recipe book available for purchase. It’s full of ideas that help expand the horizon on all the different ways maple syrup can be used. Andrea’s personal favorite is using the Bourbon syrup as a marinade for steaks.

We’re looking forward to having Morley’s Wisconsin maple syrup back on the shelves when we open September 19.

A little throwback to earlier days at Nelson’s Apple Farm.

In 50+ years we’ve focused more on the farm than on taking photos, but we came across these photos and had to share.

These photos of owners Ross and Karen Nelson were likely taken in the late 1980s or early 1990s when the sales barn and main orchard were across the road.

Back then, just like now, so much of the apple season was about welcoming guests, sharing the farm, and creating the kind of fall traditions families would come back to year after year.

As another season approaches, photos like these are a good reminder that some of the best parts of the farm have always been the memories made here and the people who became and continue to become part of the tradition.

And while we’re looking back, we’re also busy working on a few updates around the farm as we get ready for opening day.

VENDORS WANTED!

Opening weekend at Nelson’s Apple Farm is just around the corner, and we’re looking for crafters and vendors to join us for our annual Opening Weekend Outdoor Craft & Vendor Fair!

📅 September 19 & 20, 2026
⏰ 10 AM–3 PM

Choose the day that works for you — vendors are welcome to participate Saturday, Sunday, or both days.

Vendor fees:
$25 — one day
$40 — both days

Handmade crafters, artisans and direct-sales vendors are welcome. Vendors provide their own outdoor setup. Tables are available to rent if needed.

Here’s a look around the orchard this week…

The apples that did make it through the spring frost continue to grow at the normal pace and are starting to look more like fall every day. Some trees have a decent crop, while others are much lighter (or completely apple-less) than we’d normally expect this time of year.

It’s definitely going to be a different apple season for us, but we’re continuing to care for what we have and getting the farm ready to welcome everyone back.

Opening day is September 19, and because this year’s crop is smaller, pick-your-own will be limited and availability will vary throughout the season.

We’ll keep you updated as the apples ripen and we get a better picture of what will be available.

Apple Dandies is in Lonsdale, MN today!

Head to Lonsdale Community Days, stop by and check out the trailer, say hello, and grab an order or more of Apple Dandies.

For our Nelson’s Apple Farm followers, this is also your chance to get an early taste of one of our longtime orchard favorites before the farm opens for the season.

🍎 A little birdie told me it’s almost time.

As hard as that is to believe, the countdown to another season at Nelson’s Apple Farm is underway!

This year, we will be opening Saturday, September 19, instead of the usual second Saturday in September.

Unfortunately, this spring’s late frost significantly impacted our apple crop, so we’ve delayed opening to give the orchard a little more time.

Because of the frost, pick-your-own apples will be available in limited quantities this season. We’ll continue to share updates on available varieties as harvest season progresses.

While this season may look a little different, the heart of Nelson’s Apple Farm remains the same—a place to slow down, enjoy the orchard, and continue family traditions.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll share behind-the-scenes preparations, orchard updates, and a few stories from around the farm as we get ready to welcome you back.

We can’t wait to see you on September 19! 🍎
